How to finish hologram free with a rotary polisher. Is the question people want answered. Can you finish flawlessly with a rotary? Hologram and buffer trail free? Of course you can just like all polishes and compounds are not the same the same goes for the rotary polisher you are using. In this video I go in depth of what a rotary polisher is. Also, the different types of rotary polishers I recommend that's out in the market at the moment. As well as what works for me in terms of quality polish and pads to finish down flawlessly. I prefer textured pads such as waffle pads to finish down with a rotary.
Hopefully you find this helpful and informative. Anything I have missed please feel free to comment below.

Crisp, finishing/jewelling with rotary gives that extra mirrorlike finish. Takes practise, start really slow, it’s so worth it

Thank you 💪. Yes the rotary takes time but it's nothing crazy. I felt it took me longer on a DA to learn how to polish and tilt on concaves to keep the pad spinning. As opposed to a rotary where it just goes. Leaving no holograms is the trick where takes slight practice

It’s a great one for the price!!! As of right now I’ll hold off the DIY detail rotary coming out and will be most likely the same price. Once I try that out I’ll give my verdict of which 2 are my favorite. The DIY they said will be out in March. Problem with this rupes is doesn’t have high RPM to dry out the pad quick with the pad washer

Hey man, I took your advise and im able to control the rotary amazingly. I polished using rotary, ccs polishing pad, and megs ultimate compound, three good passes on speed 1 and the gray paint looked almost the same but it was much slicker. I dont have good lighting so im not sure if i even did anything. Any suggestions? Would getting Bruan color light help to see before and after?? Thanks.
@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple 5 күн бұрын
Glad the advice helped. I would suggest you get a light or bring it out to the sun. Also if you want to do correction I suggest get a DA for defect removal and no holograms. Then finish with a rotary for the highest gloss. Or speed 3 on the rotary for cutting them you'll just need to do 2 more passes with 2 different pads to finish down and remove the hologram.

For polishing fluids that is not sprayable like the DIY detail ones, can i add water to it to make it sprayable? I feel it kinda make sense to add water as our pads are already damp
@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple Ай бұрын
No need to. As you said your pad is already is damp. Just use your pad washer and add drops accordingly for that. It’s no big deal. To this day you can see myself use other polishes and I put 3-4 pea size drops. When I don’t use a sprayable polish.

what about the dewalt corded rotary with a small plate"? thanks for this video
@DetailingMadeSimple

I never used the dewalt rotary. The corded one I’ve held one when looking no for one at Home Depot I didn’t like the ergonomic and weight. But the RPM is fine it’s 800 for speed 1 anything 800 and below is good. Sweet spot is 450-600RPM for me. Do you have the dewalt rotary already? If not if I were you I’ll just wait 1 more month as DIY is releasing their new corded DA and Rotary polishers in March they announced it. 👍

Are there holograms that are only seen under sunlight or can I buy a tool that will allow me to see them in real time
@DetailingMadeSimple

Typically High LED lights work fairly well for that. Can be cool or warm glow that replicates the sun. 👍. You will see the holograms real time no mistaking. After wipe off you'll see just your light igg no matters. If it's too dark you won't be able to see the holograms

Im using the harbor fright rotary at 800 rpm with lake country ccs finishing pad. Im having a really hard time keeping the pad flat without it skipping and running off. What could I improve to keep the pad flat and me not having to fight it? Thank you so much,appreciate the content.
@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple Ай бұрын
Hey Ang. Sure I can help with that. If the rotary skips a bit too much that may be you don't have enough lubrication. Meaning more polish or a dry pad. Second is I don't like high rpm rotary 800 rpm is not my favorite and I get a bit of skipping as well. As the pad heats up faster. I learned slightly quicker arms speed and one less section pass helped me with keeping the pad flat and cool. 👍

Im first starting and it's a bit discouraging. Would I be able to make it work with what I,have or would I need to buy a 600 rpm rotary and a waffle pad? Thanks
@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple Ай бұрын
@@ang2202 you can definitely make it work! It’s all preference. I prefer 600rpm others use shine mate because they enjoy the 700rpm. It takes time to understand the tool and maneuver. The tool doesnt the polisher. The person polishing makes the tool. Just need to practice with it find out what you really enjoy. For myself I enjoy waffle pads for rotary. But I also finish with griots garage or buff and shine finishing pads. I say keep practicing. Quicker are speed more lubrication

Hi I was wondering, if you only use a da polisher, you can't get the super nice gloss, correct? It's only when you add the rotary polisher that you can get that finish, right?
@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple 4 ай бұрын
You can finish very nice with a DA. For that super nice gloss it’s about 5% maybe 10% with the rotary but that’s mainly what detailers see and really notice. As an everyday driver and regular customer they wouldn’t really know the difference. As most really don’t care for swirls or scratches and they barely see it. They just care for shiny and glossy paint/scratches. This is for the select few or if you’re focused on just bringing out gloss.

@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple 2 ай бұрын
Of course. A drill is a small rotary. Will be awkward to hold for a whole polishing job and uncomfortable. But you absolutely can. Also most detailers use a drill for headlight restorations. Also note the smaller the pad more heat will be generated so you may need to move a tad bit quicker than I am in this video to prevent holograms. Hope this helps 💪💪💪

Can you cut with foam and speed 1?
@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple Ай бұрын
Yes you can. Also use a stiffer foam pad you can cut a remove deeper defects but may leave holograms. So a second step is typically needed. Most I’ll use on a rotary as a one step is a medium polishing pad like the gold waffle or the red finishing. The yellow will give deeper defect removal and a decent one step result.

@@DetailingMadeSimple what do you think about the rupes white, yellow and blue waffle foam pads? Which one should I get for cutting and polishing/finishing?
@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple Ай бұрын
@@alvin3502 my humble opinion I am not a fan of the waffle pads from rupes at all. When I was at Eddie’s garage from ECDetails polishing and using it on a rotary we couldn’t finish down. Still left holograms. Eddie grabbed the pad and split them in half threw it in the garbage. 😂😂 true story. If you want to cut definitely you can get the blue foam pad from Rupes. Wool cuts cooler than foam tho if you want to cut. Depends how deep the defects are too. Try A DA as well if it’s not too deep so you aren’t chasing holograms. You can cut with the DA and finish with the rotary. My favorite pads for the rotary are the buff and shine black foam pads, DIY waffle yellow and red, if I want a stiff pad and cutting with foam Rupes blue, black waffle pad from optimum. Just because I mainly finish with the rotary. If I’m cutting just like my wife demo for crazy heavy defects we are taking out wool easily. If it’s moderate cut with a DA with a wool pad then finish with the rotary.
