but lets say we're only using stock plugins, how would you go about in making the basses as loud as they can, while maintaining them as clean and interesting as possible? also, how would you deal with unwanted clicks, relics and messed phase?

stock plugins making something loud and clean as possible will take a multi step approach. first after you synthesize a sound. you will need to clean it up with an EQ. cut harsh frequencies and get rid of stuff you don't need. if its a bass that has a separate sub then you won't need any low end in your bass. to get rid of clicks and pops, that usually comes from OTT if that's what you are referring too. and that can be tamed by turning the time to 1000% percent. now if you are still getting pops and relics. print to audio and manually cut out the tail of the sound so you don't get that. the key to getting something as loud as possible will be the process of Compression, Eq'ing out unneeded stuff. and shaping via EQ till you are happy with the sound. then boost with saturation with soft clip enabled! Hope that helps!

btw, is the compressor in serum the same as ott, or is it the version prior that inspired it.

When you click multi band it pretty much is OTT. Pretty sure the same as xfer OTT, but could be wrong

@@wheystedmusic it honestly seems like it with the visual part of the compressor (similar looking to ott). This just goes back to the pre/post/resampling spectrum, in consideration of me not using serums compressor, non-reason specific.

I personally find post to just give me a better sound simply.
