About our Presenter:
Massimo Pigliucci is an author, blogger, podcaster, and the K.D. Irani Professor of Philosophy at the City College of New York. His academic work focuses on evolutionary biology, philosophy of science, pseudoscience, and practical philosophy.
Massimo is a prolific writer who publishes regular columns in Skeptical Inquirer and Philosophy Now magazines. He also curates the popular Figs in Winter newsletter for the School of New Stoicism.
Massimo is the author of several books including The Quest for Character: What the Story of Socrates and Alcibiades Teaches Us about Our Search for Good Leaders (2022), Think like a Stoic: Ancient Wisdom for Today’s World (2021), and How to Be a Stoic: Using Ancient Philosophy to Live a Modern Life (2017). His books provide insightful and practical wisdom for living a meaningful life inspired by ancient philosophies like Stoicism.
Known for his accessible writing style, Massimo brings ancient wisdom to modern audiences. Through his books, columns, newsletter and more, he shares practical lessons on character, ethics, resilience and happiness that remain timely and relevant today.

I agree it may take months or years to show progress externally ie until others notice. BUT: internally, Stoic wisdom works instantly. I guess Seneca himself says sth like "philosophy is the best of remedies because it works immediately and has no side effects".
