How to Practice Trading: My Top 3 Tips For Success

When you are a beginner to the stock market and just getting started in the world of day and swing trading, having tools to practice are a good thing! "Practice trading" can be referred to as numerous names: paper trading, simulator trading, demo trading and others, but please realize they are all the same thing. Hey clay! Think this is video 20 of yours that I’ve watched. I’ve been glued AND plugged in. By video 30 I’ll see what options there are to buy a course from you (heard you offered one) Your style and content is great and informative. You bring a very straightforward grounded reality into something a lot of people puff up into a dream like state. Only thing that would be a suggestion from me is to make a playlist that almost keeps pace with a timeline of things you need to know in order. I find myself jumping all around your channel to find the answers to things I’m looking for. But yeah; ABSOLUTELY bang up job. It's so true! I'm still learning so I set a $500 limit for my trading today... Ended up using $1000 to help dig myself out of shorting disaster. The temptation is real. But it came out in the green!! :-)

I’m still learning and I used to do that! Whenever I was losing I would go and say naaah in this next trade I’ll double my shares and yes in most parts I would recover but one day changed my life lmaoo I ended up loosing 200 bucks and made my self not only not being able to recover but feeling like crap😢 and guess what? I never did that again

Hey Clay, great video, I learned a lot and realized I am paper trading the wrong way. I look forward to pushing that reset button on Monday and starting over. Quick question for you. I noticed in your video and from my own experience that order fills on Webull paper trading are a little slow (not terribly slow, but a little slower than other platforms). Do you know if real orders on Webull are filled faster?

I jumped in with real money and it did wonders for my learning experience. I started with $350 and trades stocks from $20 to max 35. The goal was to be able to buy no less that 10 shares. That way I can feel real emotions. I once had a stock move. .50 cents with a plan. I was making 5 to 15 a week. This was a while ago. It really helped. One I still wanted my money to grow. 2 I didn't want to lose my $350. So I felt the real emotion. I dont like paper trading. I tried it and I felt nothing.

Emotional decisions fall way short of logical ones. I had a bad trade, and I was calculating how many shares it would take go average down so I could sell at a break even. I just sold and took the loss. I am not sure it was the best choice.

These features are available exactly the same way for free on tradingview (without depositing $100). Also webul only accepts US residents so it's useless for anyone overseas. Tradingview is free, eToro accepts worldwide accounts and both have just as good paper trading.

Hi Clay, awesome videos. I'm brand new at trading and have 2 questions. I found a real time data streaming quotes on line for free but is in 5 minute intervals and like Robinhood in the US, here in Canada it's an app called Wealthsimple trade and is commission free. This would be the cheapest way to go, what is your opinion on this?

What if you trading more volatile stocks like I trade. How do you protect your paper trading account with stop orders? With TD Ameritrade you can place stop and target orders attached to your buy order. The other solution is to use hotkeys. Does webull have hotkeys for paper trading?

Ok, here is a real scenario. I do odd jobs and I sometimes I have $100 left over. I do not want waist it away. Can I make this snowflake a snowball? I do not want to use my wife's money. Here is my situation. This applies to me because I want to make a simple modest income. I only need $1,500 a month. I am a very busy stay-at-home father. I am a good dog and I can be trained 😉

@@claytrader I'm a stay at home dad. My jobs usually are random. I do plan to seed with our tax return when it comes in June, $1000.00. I have much patience to make a snowball. I plan on reinvesting all proceeds quarterly. I even have the balls to buy 100 shares of FORD tomorrow when I get my pay settlement from a job. We are minimalist with no goal of wealth, just build an income stream in the next 5 years so we can travel modestly. We have been planning the skoolie life before it became a trend. Travel to an area and settle for about 6 months to take in the culture. We plan to work during this time too. Just to give you an idea of how minimalism we are, we are a family of 5, (at the time 4) and we moved from Oklahoma to Ohio in a single pickup truck load. I say a $100 video would encourage future young investors that they too even working crappy jobs can afford to invest. I wish I knew this knowledge 20 years ago.

Webull has terrible execution, the platform looks good but not for day trading. I use it for over a year. paper trading and real money trading has different setting and doesn't look the same. I wouldn't recommend them ever. Most people that recommend them is to get the referral free stock/free money.
