Those MG's are great little cars Mike, and still very popular here in the UK. As long as you keep the fluids changed regularly they go forever. The only real problem they used to have was weak headgaskets! But once you fix that you won't ever have to fix it again if your lucky? Great video Mike, looking forward to the next one 👍

In 1999, i bought two 1971 MG Midgets and made one out of the two !! Great to drive, especially with no power steering or brake servo !! So yes 60mph is enough excitement !

I used a gardening try about 2 feet square as back up , depending on weight of oil you use in carburettor on vacuum and hence exceleration, glad you appreciate old English sizes, keep up the good work 👍

With oil that old and dirty I would have recommend that you use flushing oil after draining the old oil, run the engine for 10/15 minutes and only then add the good oil. I would also have changed the filter with both oil changes. Also check (and possibly change) the gearbox and rear axel oils too, and the air filter. Love the channel, and I wish you a long and happy life. And get the truck going, the one Randy so generously gifted you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Mike nice to see you working on the midget just a little fact for you in case you didn’t know the engine and gearbox are originally triumph as the midget was a 1098 cc before and in an attempt to give them more power they fitted the 1500 cc triumph engine from what was the Toledo I work on many of them many years ago in my younger days

Mike back then I owned a Midget in College, with a 1.1 liter and a later Triumph Spitfire with the engine your midget has and never worried about the interstates.

Hi Mike Some of the MGs that roll in Sweden have changed the engine to the Volvo B20, it was installed, among other things, in the Volvo model 140 Yours is original 👌

What a nice old MG. Most of these still around are crusty rusty (which is odd as you would think a car made in the UK (where it always rains and is damp) would be more rust resistant). Have you considered tracking down the the optional hard top these cars had?

Clean up the sludge in the engine with a little Sea Foam in the new oil? Only a few ounces will clean her out pretty well. You'd be surprised what it will do on an older engine? Keep up the good work Mike?

Hi Mike I like the MGs I had a cousin that had two brand new ones I near he maintenance it regular he live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania so rust wasn’t good to it but gosh he ran them for so many years he had one recondition he passed a few years ago so I’m not sure what happen to it but he was over 6 ft 2 and not a small man but he fit in it thanks for them memories great video

Ok, the oil was needed but the coolant was bad conscience... the perfect car for Florida.
