Before you use a new Hungarian Oak Barrel, it is important to prepare it correctly.
We show you from step to step how it is goes.
When purchasing a new barrel, we often don't consider that this product requires maintenance.
Until we unpack our barrels, they should be stored in a closed, dark, and cool place, protected from drafts.
Once unpacked, follow these steps:
1. Fill the barrel completely with cold water and let it soak for two days.
2. After the two days, empty the barrel, let it dry slightly, and then fill it with wine or spirits.
Tip: Only use natural water. It should not be chlorinated or treated.
After soaking, it is advisable to burn one sulfur stick per 100 liters inside the barrel before use.
If the barrel leaks or drips, don't worry; the micro-joints will swell and seal within two days.
