Hello, in my experience. Anywhere from a few days to several months. Sometimes, you don't even get a follow-up and just see the post-re-advertise if the hiring manager doesn't find a good candidate after the interviews. I would wait a month after the interview and email HR and ask.

@@MarioStingerPerpetualTraveller Hi Mario, after 2 months and half from interview based competency i received a feedback from united nation , they said that the recruitment has been delayed, and they will revert to me as soon as possible. I don’t know if it’s a good sign or not ?

Can a reference be also a private person one may know e.g. a diplomat or is the reference just about the persons whom you worked with?

If you can’t provide a reference that have worked with you or your former boss. A personal or character reference can work. If you did get in the interview, unless your reference is negative or speaks against you. It shouldn’t matter too much

What are the key supporting documents I need to attach in my application that will surely help me in getting a position ? As a backgrounder, I am an external applicant and is currently working in the public sector.

Nothing really, because everything is in the application fields. The most important where you will score a maximum of points and grab their attention is the SA. You will see questions like; do you have any experience in the public sector? Don't just answer; yes or yes, 10 years. Take the time to write something about your knowledge, your experience, what you did, for how long, where you did it etc...
