I never read the original comment, but I have a lot of respect for people who reflect on something they've done, admit fault and apologise before the same audience they said it from. It's so easy to check that apology box by doing it 1-1 after the original fault was public. All the best. Andy

I don't think Tile is any less problematic in this effect. The bluetooth of Tile works with other tile users to via the app on their phone, regardless of whether they are Apple or Samsung phones. It could also be used as a stalking tool, and won't necessarily allow a stalkee to detect it. The Apple and Samsung defense is helpful to prevent stalking, but it makes the Air Tag and Smart Tag less effective as a theft deterrent because it tells the thief it's there. They find the tag and disable or chuck it, and you cannot recover your stolen bike, car, baggage. It looks like the BLE Scanner App you showed is the bike thief's best friend because except a GPS, no bluetooth tracker will elude them.

With a blue tooth tracker or an iphone or a Samsung phone, a car thief can know if you have a tag in your car. But can he find it if you hid it good? If you disable the tag speaker (many 'how to' videos on youtube), the thief won't be able to make the tag ring either. So if you're using a tag to find a stolen car, first hide it real good and disable the speaker.

It's not good news that they alert you that there is an unknown airtag /. smarttage near you. It kills the one huge feature of using these devices, if you are using it to track assets and that is it alerts the thief that the thing they stole has a smarttag/airtag on it. And now they have time to find the tag and remove it. What a stupid idea on Apple/Samsun'gs part.

So basically these things are useless for protecting your valuables, if trying to locate without a monthly contract. All they are good for is keys and unstolen things

Burton, Thank you so much for your video and the detailed information! It should be required by law for smartphone makers to have a cross compatibility with the tag detection. Hopefully, this is something that will be implemented soon.

Take it to law enforcement. They can look that information up for you

I installed ble but still can't see info on if there's a tracker or who it belongs too.. scared because my ex boyfriend always knew when I left the house.. this is no way to live

If you have a Samsung Phone, you need to download the Smarthings app to find unknown trackers. Get the latest update for your iPhone if you have one to find unknown trackers. He could be using something else that isn't a smartag or airtag.

Depends on the phone. If it’s an iphone, it will scan automatically. If you have to download the SmartThings app

Tile owner can turn on in the Tile app the "undetectable anti-theft mode" This prevents stalkers or thieves from knowing the device they stole has a tracker; only the owner of the tracker will know. Also, Tile has a feature within its app named "Scan for Unknow Tiles." As the name indicates you can scan yourself and your location for tiles. Yes, stalking and the like is out of hand, as are stolen items. With trackers the owner of items has a much better chance of locating their items than if trackers were never invented.

Wait, did I hear that correctly? You need to download the smart things app in order to know if someone is stalking you? Most people aren't gonna download smart things. Shouldn't it be a feature of your phone, like the air tag, rather than something I need to download?

exactly.. makes no sense when u download the app it assumes you have a smart things device it doesn't allow you to locate a random one like stated

I understand it as a separate purchase and if using IOS, a different manufacturer. I use Chrome on my iPhone, Mac & PC. I didn’t expect it to have been natively installed. Your comments have me confused. What am I missing 🫣?
