Hi Becca, I love and appreciate your honest perspective. I am looking forward to watching more of your videos. Also, I am excited to let our music teacher know about you as we are currently working on a hybrid model at my school. My husband, friend and I have been creating our own original characters and stories. We are at the point right now of starting to get them out there. We do have a defined niche as our characters come from various family backgrounds. They also have different learning strengths and weaknesses in school and beyond. Our overall theme is building acceptance through understanding. With that being said, our pricing on TPT is quite the challenge. When it comes to time spent, the hours we have spent are beyond counting as we have created the characters, concept and stories from scratch. We then add numerous resources to support our stories. The even bigger challenge is most of the key words that apply to our concept aren't really searched. Now we are working on some short stories and resources to begin introducing our characters. I remember you mentioning in other videos about some of your other social media groups. We will definitely be looking into them. Mostly I have been watching you on my TV, so I haven't figured out yet how to click on your links below. (So I switched to my laptop.) Thank you again for your straight forward content! During this whirlwind of teaching and forever planning virtually it is so refreshing to have a breath of fresh air like you! May you continue to love music, support teachers and inspire others! Google activities are VERY time consuming. $4 seems very reasonable for Google Slides products. I make Google Forms reading activities (which seem a bit easier than Google Slides) and have gradually raised my prices to $3. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the insight! I’ve also priced most of my Forms at $3

Thank you, I have been wondering about my prices. I started looking more at other similar products to compare or even if an idea is worth the time. Good tips!

I really like the way you talk and explain things. Straight to the point! You're also very expressive, which I love! I started my journey on TpT as a seller about a month ago, as a Basic Seller. I am now realizing that i might make no money on some of my products and should really change the price. BUT! What if my buyers find it discouraging?
@BeccaDavis

Thanks Markela! Straight to the point and expressive is my goal. It depends on what it is. I don’t make any little one page products because I can’t sell them for enough to make them worth it. But if your products are worth more, raise the price. The worst thing that happens is it’s too expensive, and you can change it later. But I would give it a few months to see first.

Thanks for including real numbers and tips! What’s your conversion rate? Or what do you aim for? 5%? 10%?
@BeccaDavis
@BeccaDavis 4 жыл бұрын
I don't have any particular conversion rate in mind, but 3% is a decent amount, and 10% is like... amazing

Hi Becca! How do you get TPT to make the cha-ching sound on your phone when you sell something? I have heard a lot of TPT sellers talk about this and I don't know how to get notifications when I make a sale!

One thing I've found difficult to find out in terms of pricing is what value you're providing to the teacher for the price. So in terms of a product that is basically a ready made lesson (ignoring more general things like wall charts, reference materials, etc), how much teaching material would someone expect for $3 in terms of classroom time? Would they expect a single lesson? A whole unit? An entire syllabus of materials? It's all well and good thinking about how much time it took me to make, but ultimately, my customers don't care how much effort I put in, they only care about the value to themselves. I'm looking at getting into this in a TESOL niche (I don't even know if that's an area that's popular on TPT) but I can't help but compare the materials on TPT to professionally produced materials in terms of pricing, and $20-30 typically gets you a course book of carefully researched materials with a graphic design department, professional audio recording, etc, at an appropriate level for your student. A yearly subscription of $30 gets you access to a website with hundreds of printable resources. I wonder who is going to buy my collection of worksheets, or whatever, for $3, when they could buy those instead.

Real numbers are helpful, thank you for sharing. But $0.80?… is it worth it in the end?
@BeccaDavis
@BeccaDavis Жыл бұрын
Yes- just price your products well. If it’s less than $2 it’s not really worth it. Make them $3+ so you make decent money

When we put the price is the sales tax automatically calculated or do we fill that out? If we fill it out, is it based on the state’s sales tax?
@BeccaDavis
@BeccaDavis 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mayra! I am NOT a tax professional and will always direct to you a tax professional. But. No, Tac is not included. Tpt does sales tax for some states, but currently not all. You can check your dashboard for what states it remits. Currently, they don’t remit for GA so I pay GA. At least in Ga, I only have to pay GA plus the ones tpt does for me. So I’m only paying my state sales tax for sales in my state. (Which again, you can see if you check out your sales reports.) I hope that helps!

@@BeccaDavis In the first video you showed us how to make the slides, but what happens after that? How and where do you upload them, how do the students get access to them, how to they manipulate them and how do they submit them to you? That kinda stuff. Also how does google slides work with TpT?

One idea is instead of reducing price, to do a giveaway to seduce customers to the store.
