The ABCDE Prioritization Technique is an extremely effective productivity approach to manage time and prioritize tasks at work. This method was developed by Brian Tracy, author of Eat that Frog and focuses of dividing tasks up based on priorities, which helps one stay organized. In order to get more things done and increase productivity, the ABCDE Prioritization Technique is very useful to assign levels of importance and priority to your life and work.

I’ve worked so hard on personal development and it’s funny to see that at times, I fail in practicing the method and resolving to the productive procrastination

This is way better than the Urgent / Importance matrix as it defines the most important, puts a cap on them and takes into account delegation. If you combine this a technique I picked up where when you are tempted by a distraction just think 'I'll do it later'. Your brain feels the overwhelm of too much to do and *has* to procrastinate on something so the smart thing to do is to procrastinate on the fun stuff. Another powerful one is having Management days and Project days... if your job / life allows it pack all the management (admin) tasks into one or two days a week. Then you can focus on deep work on the other days.

I am also suffering a lot from ineffective prioritization. Eisenhower's decision matrix didn't help me. This explanation is really simple to understand. Thank you so much.

My Task List is sorted by due date giving me an indication of urgency For projects, I use the GTD concept of Next Action The other task are tagged Status-Pending I only use a Priority-Important tag to red-flag entries in my Task List I'll have to think about the ABCDE

Interesting. This was the method Daytimer systems advocated back in the 80's.

I think one tends to do easy things because they are, well, easy and at least you've done something but I'm sure it's right to tackle the more important things first. I'm struggling at the moment with several problems, some are important but I just don't know how to tackle them. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Barbara

Why not just use the priority matrix?

I feel its a bit simplistic. What about low hanging fruits, not that high in priority but easy to complete and that are another stress on your mind because your list is so big. I would do the A1, A2, A3 then there would be a new A1, A2 and A3 before I even get to the B's. Until the B's get so bad and cause so much stress they are now an A. Thus, I just feel like i am drowning in tasks all the time.

Well, kinda don't know what to do with D section in my case, but I presume that it'll be helpful in the next academic year. However, for now, I must deal with ABC and E sections. Also, what's your take on adding an optional section which would contain optional things to do simultaneously, for instance - listening to music you like or podcasts? Thanks for the video btw, it was soo helpful.

Therefore, you’re seeking in the wrong area. You need to learn to discipline and/or ease your mind to focus on what is rather than what COULD be
