How to program new style key remote on Land Rover Discovery 4 LR4 using IID

In this video we look at if it is possible to program one of the new style remote keyfob as a spare key on the Land Rover Discovery 4 / LRD using the GAP Diagnostics IID tool.

This might be a way to get around the manufacturing issue on the original fob covers (and the genuine replacement covers) where the rubber comes away from the plastic case underneath, and nothing can glue it back on again..

Do you think it'd be possible to make an 'activity key' style key work on a Disco 4? The idea of having a waterproof wearable key on a Discovery would solve a few surfing issues. Or having a locking system that works with a smart watch perhaps...

ollie irvine you'd have to find someone who paid for the special IIDTool license that isn't locked to one VIN. If you need a new key consider it a coupon taking 25-50% off the price of an IIDT depending on your local stealership... Oops dealership. Maybe try Land Rover forums for people near you that may be able to help if the budget is tight. Considering what the dealer oil change goes for here in the US I have to believe the key replacement goes more than $300 USD with key. (Dodge is about $200 for keyless entry replacement+coding.)Good luck.

Great video,as Always from you guys! I häve the iid till bt and tried this routine and got the same result as you, "process successful but key not accepted". But in my Case the key did nit work afterwards sitter. My key is 315mhz, what feequency is the key in this video?

I think the UK is 422mHz ... email the guys at IID they are very responsive.

Loved the video Guys, I've recently purchased a 2013 Disco 4 and also the BT idtool. However, the car only came with one key fob and I wish to purchase another and program it to my vehicle. Can you recommend a good source for purchasing a new key fob?

Hi there, I just found your video about just what I need to do on my 2010 MY11 D4. I have the same old style key, and need to add one… now my question: did you just get the key fob from 2012+ d4 or is it a different one? I am struggling to find a new style fob that „works with a pre 2012 D4“, any hints? Thans JAC

Great video as always. Do you have the KVM upgraded to the version of software/firmware which LR decided to turn read-only and can be programmed just once with keys?

This can be done with the normal IID tool - with the VIN locked to your car. I am using the pro only because i use it on multiple vehicles so need the pro as it is not locked to a single VIN.. the functionality is I believe the same
