Technically that is still offering a discount if your offering a color service w| a free add on wether it be a treatment or take home its technically still a discount if normally you would charge for it but this is indeed a smarter way to go about it to rather than discounting your higher priced services to get people in the door

You are right. But it allows you to keep prices on core services and also give smaller, more strategic, discounts..
