Euphorbia trigona or African milk tree is a perennial ornamental house plant growing up to 3 meter tall. It's commonly known as African milk tree, Cathedral cactus, Abyssinian euphorbia, High chaparall and originates from Central Africa. It's belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family and it is a pest free low maintenance plant. Euphorbia trigona plant propagation can be done by stem cutting and you can do it any time of the year, but best growing season is spring.
Propagation steps:
First of all cut any healthy stem. When you cut the stem, white latex come out from here. The latex is a poisonous and it can causes skin irritations. Now I'm make potting mix for euphorbia trigona plant. The ratio of the potting mix is 60% normal garden soil, 20% vermicompost and 20% fine sand. Mix it well. Otherwise you can use cactus potting mix. Take a pot with well drainage system and fill it with potting mix. Before planting stem cutting allowed to dry 2 to 5 days for callus. Make a hole center of the potting mix with your finger and place this cutting into the hole and press it gently. Finally give some water and keep it partial shade place.

After cutting stem from mother plant, use contact fungicide (like SAAF) in it.

I run something like a village sign and hill in western New york, like the HOLLYWOOD sign, acquired a huge 50 year old one of these with many branches, if soil is right, should this plant survive planted on my hill? I plan to dig them up every fall, already do this with palms.

I think it's main reason is overwatering, cactus don't requerd too much water.
@oknahh

Although some arent too picky..with succulents/cacti a good rule of thumb is "no roots = no water" without roots they can't take in the water leading to rot. Keeping them dry will cause it to send out roots to find water. Also avoid spritzing and moisture as it creates fungi and rot.
