I’m only watching this because at my work no one ever cleans it and I feel like I should really be the person to do our customers the favor

Worked at whataburger for 2 years and sonic for 3, neither place cleaned their machines so I would do it for them. You’d be surprised how dirty it gets. There was about an inch thick of white mold around each pipe and caked against the walls of the inside of the machine. I just started at bill millers and I asked them how long it’s been since the fountain machines have been cleaned, they said they don’t know since health dept doesn’t make them do it, so I’m about to teach the crew. Wish my luck yall 🤣😭

You shouldn’t use sanitizer to soak the soda nozzles. Soaking them in sanitizer actually deteriorates the plastic and causes it to chip off into customers drinks. Also should take way more than one rag to clean this whole thing

Work at the Cheesecake Factory, they clean all their soda machines every night. Soda is good to go there y’all 👍

I work at a small movie theater with this exact machine. This is what you do. The seltzer basically melts the grime on the metal & plastic before washing. Please use more than 1 rag & dawn soap/toothbrush for the nozzles to make sure the mold is gone. To help prevent build up, take a small bucket of hot soapy water every night to clean the pipes in the drain bin. Simply pour it in the tray slowly. The ice bin also has a drainage pipe. Get some hot water & again dump that there. Mold/Slime gets in the stopper so remove that & clean it too. ❤

When I was a chef in the Navy we had a soda machine just like this and one day I thought I would check the cleanliness of the machine and pulled off the spouts and you would not believe the amount of blackish green slime that was within the spouts. They didn't know how to clean them so they never got cleaned they sure cleaned it after that day. I just wonder if all the places that serve soda cleans them. It's interesting to find out.

A very useful video on the cleaning of a soda station. Though sanitizer should be made with hot water cold water is best, hot water negates the sanitizer. Club soda or luke warm water is best for removing sugary syrup.

I saw a few things here that were incorrect. The towel that is used to clean the outer part of the device should not be used to clean the ice bay or the nozzle heads it should be rinsed after each part is whipped down, so as not to cross-contaminate the parts cleaned prior! it would have been great to see another container will clean water and sanitizer for ringing out the towel several times. Otherwise, it's great to see this on KZfaq! Because a lot of restaurants do not clean equipment properly at all!

ok that is just friggen gross. the inside of the ice bin should NOT be wiped AFTER the outside of the machine. and in between whipping interior(first) and exterior(last) parts the rag should be properly washed in running water and then re-saturated with sanitized water, squeezing out the excess

Give the grill and drip tray to dishpit for it to be properly washed. I do it every night

hate to be that guy but pouring hot water down whats most likely a rubber drain hose will damage it

He made a mistake he didn’t rinse that towel after cleaning the lower part of that drinking machine then he took that same towel decontaminated the inside of ice tray with dirty towel. I know cleanliness and that ain’t it ! He did a the best he could do but that towel should have been washed out or replaced with another clean towel to dry out the ice 🧊 box! 😉
