Great Video.., Question what is the cause of choppy waveform while searching for a song in Serato? As well as what size Lacie are you using and how full is it?

I have a 2TB Lacie and have like 800GB's free on it. So I'm using like 1.2 - The waveform get's choppy from your computer working extra hard to index and search through a large library of music. Smaller library the better.

Nick Spinelli the worst part is having to go through and get rid of stuff. That could take forever. Serato hates large libraries... yet I have seen vdj and it has no problem with that at all.

What should DJ's like myself, (who have wrongly just dragged over all their music into Serato, and made crates after) do to correctly add music to Serato as you put it in this video? I completely agree with the way you say Music should be added. I just want to know what should I do from now. Should I delete all my music out of Serato and then drag it back over the way you say, or do you have a better suggestion? Thank you for all the knowledge you are sharing.

EVERYONE: Remember you cannot analyze with hardware (a controller, mixer, etc) plugged in. If it controls serato you will not see analyze unless the hardware is unplugged!

Great video! I don’t use Serato I use Rekordbox but honestly it’s similar concept. Definitely never drag all your music entirely at once unless you want it to crash! Great idea on the update folder too!

Rekordbox can do it this way but it also does it the way u can load music in itunes (file/ import/ track or folder)- which is my preference. The no options on right-clicking a track in serato is a pain in d @$$

Great video thank you. Just wondering if there is a way to import new music to an existing SDJ library without having to make a new crate every time. For example, I use promo only and bring in a new folder every week. I was hoping to just add it to the library. since it contains all different genres, I then drag and drop songs into existing crates like top 40, hip hop, house, etc. thank you

I've got a couple of questions. How does Ableton or Studio One work with Serato on a Roland DJ 505? I saw an older video that shows you how to convert .wav to mp3s in iTunes, but was hoping there is an easier way to go directly. I have seen a few videos of how Ableton links with Serato on the Roland 808 but I am hoping it will work with the 505 too. Also, wanted to know if you know about the Pioneer ddj-xp2 controller that now works with Serato? What I want to know is will it work with the Roland DJ-505? Will Pioneer gear play well with Roland gear?

Thanks for the advice. I've just switched from vinyl/CDs and the whole laptop and serato combo is new to me. So, I plugged my hard drive into a macbook pro, did what you said and it worked but when I unplug the hard drive and go back to serato, the crates are gone. Do I have to leave the hard drive connected? Cant I save the tracks into the serato library permanently? Thanks

thanks for the info I recently found this info on my own, I had been using Virtual dj for over 10 years and I would say organizing my music was a big headache when switching over to Serato until now. since I store all my music on my hard drive like yourself I find myself draggingeach folder all the time before a set. is there a way to have the crates created saved? when I disconnect my hard drive the folders I had previously dragged over disappear in Serato. can you please help?
