Very helpful thank you. I've had roof racks on cars but kind of felt stuck with my flatbed and I did exactly what you showed in the video and it worked out fine. 1 hour drive. Good stuff. Hudson Valley New York

Why wouldn't you put the tailgate up ? it would get the canoe to a more flat position !

wouldn't it be better to have the tailgate up, so the canoe isn' at such an angle causing a "scoop" effect and also keep the nose of the canoe away from the ground?? I have to haul my canoe 150 miles tomorrow and am going this route. Hope it works...

Did you try this? How did it work?

This what I was thinking

@@sparky-jo7dk well the canoe is still in one piece, so it worked rather well I'd say 👍👌

Definitely, tailgate up, strap around the hull fore and aft. strap goes from anchor under boat, back up and over then back under to the other side anchor point.

This would be OK with an aluminum canoe?
@JoseAlves-et3fb3 жыл бұрын
How many straps did you use? 2 or 4?

Obviously 6

Do not ever transport a boat like this, its a horrible design. Driving down the road wind will gather in the boat and could cause it to shoot off.

Towed it for 1200 miles like this prob not a good idea but it worked.

Yes I was wondering why they didn’t use the extra rope and run it around the thwart or yoke at least. I’d put foam pads under the canoe that was resting on the tailgate.
