I took utmost care of my iPad charging cable. Never took it out of my home, yet it tore at one end after 2 years. Apple really needs to improve their cable quality. Even the cheapest phone on earth comes with a better cable.

These are typical methods everyone is already using. It's very stressful on many cables (in IT industry, you'd be fired for doing that to an ethernet cable) because each loop introduces one twist as well and creates a mess that easily tangles when unraveling. There are much better methods that I won't explain here but, keep looking folks!
