My number one hold back to buying a contract is the fact DVC continues to show (along with Disney) that reduction in perks is normal. What will Walt Disney World look like in 10 years? How much of a sucker will I look like?

I was like Paul, hadn’t been to Disney in years and saw the booths for DVC at the time and said no way. After like a year later, I decided to research and 6 months after that, I bought. Have been enjoying my stays since that time.

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge once, and I must admit; it was really cool. I also love the Value resorts too, but I guess my thing is. I've always wanted to stay at each Disney resort at least once in my life. For me it's like a bucket list.

I ended up buying OKW direct on 7/31/20, it was just easier going that route for me....but when I do give in to addoncitis I will buy resale. I have been researching this for over 10 years, even have taken a few tours when I was at Disney for vacation but never pulled the trigger.....no clue why I did it now and not back then just spur of the moment I guess.

I love the show; thank you so much for providing all of this great content! I would love for you to do an episode talking about how people can I pass DVC interest to their children. I hear this talked about as a benefit during sales pitches and on message boards like yours, but can you describe the mechanics? What happens when someone dies owning a DVC interest? What if a couple decides they would like to pass their interest of their children before their death? I’m an estate planning lawyer, so I understand the legal aspects, but I’m particularly interested in how Disney handles the transition, rights on the account, etc. Maybe something about what “associate” member means too?

Maintenance fees make me nervous, and I understand Rivera adds skyliner maintenance into the RR DVC fees. That is risky considering how it breaks down and as a new method of transportation it is tough to understand costs to DVC.

1200 points! OMG! That has to be $100,000 to $200,000! And the maintenance fee has to be $6,000 to 12,000 a year (at $5 to $10 a point.) Wow, that is like a house mortgage.

I just won't buy RR because of that restriction and the very high points per night. RR buyers will stay at other resorts to get more nights there will be availability to stay at RR with my existing points.

We own a 300 point contract at Boardwalk. Our have a March use year. We have 216 banked points. We are trying to decide whether we want to sell our contract or rent our points because we are looking to vacation differently during the next 3 to 5 years. If we decide to rent our points, as owners, are we responsible for any damage caused by the renters?

Aren’t the Copper Creek Cabins easy to get at 7 months? I would buy cheap Saratoga points if I wanted points just for the cabins unless I wanted the cabins at holidays and other high demand days.

I am considering buying 250 points for the best price. I still have to convince my husband,. Ho long before my next vacation should I buy if I want to use them for that vacation?

Hi Ana! It's Derek w the DVC Resale Market. So a closing usually takes around 60-90 days so always allow for at least (the wild card honestly is how long Disney takes to do their parts with ROFR, Estoppel, etc.) - then when it's closed Disney usually takes about 30 days or so (can be a little less) for them to actually load those points into your account. When looking at point charts, what does “weekly” mean? Is that 5 nights, 6 nights, 7 nights?

Hi Lynne! Great question! So buyers with us the DVC Resale Market can use their points at the 14 original DVC resorts (not Riviera or anything not built yet) - resale buyers do not receive a 'blue card' for any of the current/temporary discounts (that again can change/be removed at anytime) - however buyers are able to save 20-50% vs buying direct when they purchase with us. Direct “Blue card” benefits are, I’ll probably forget some, moonlight magic, ability to buy discounted gold and platinum annual passes (temporarily on hold right now), Epcot lounge, discounts on merchandise and food, and the ability of use your points for other Disney collections or cruises(poor use of points).

Hey Jay, before you buy anything check the point charts for each resort so you can see how many points you will need for the type of stay you want, OKW and Saratoga Springs you can get more bang for your buck depending on when you want to stay.

Same Use Year makes things a lot easier to manage when it comes to your membership. Many still function great with multiple but the general consensus seems to be that a single Use Year is preferable.

Hi Mike! Great question so overall most will say if you're adding on to keep the same use year as your original. If the Use Year and Names are the same as your original, Disney will then merge everything under the original membership number...and points from dif resorts can be of course combined at 7 months (and you can do all your booking online, etc.) - if you do get a dif Use Year then DVC will create a new membership number and if you wanted to combine all of your points you would have to call each time to transfer the points from one account to the other (not able to do it online) - I hope that helps clarify a little!

How does the seller’s active / open DVC purchase loan with Disney affect me when purchasing a resale contract?

Hi Maria! Great question! So a loan would need to be paid off and many sellers with loans will simply pay off the loan they have with the proceeds from the sale! We at the DVC Resale Market have no upfront fees to sell so say the loan is for 10K and the contract sells for 15K...the title company would take out the seller's commission and then fees to Disney (usually around $170) and then anything left over would go towards paying off your loan and the title company works with Disney in making that happen at closing. I would love some advice on home resort for resale! Family of 5 (kids 15, 12, and 8) who likes to travel in January for about a week or a little more and (probably) just 2 adults for 4 nights jn September for food and wine. I'm hoping for 2 home resorts and also at least 350 points.
