The more you motivate yourself with external achievements, the more your wellbeing will depend on your surroundings.
@jonathanbowen3640
@jonathanbowen3640 4 жыл бұрын
Not really. You're conflating well-being with motivation. Though often linked they are fundamentally massively different. Firstly it depends hugely on your definition of "external achievements" .. Is something like a journal or daily habit tracker external or internal?. Also most successful people have a team around them offering support, validation encouragement etc. Most people perform best when they have created structure around them. Accountability partners are great. Things like apps showing that you broke your exercise record are great. Why even bring well being into a comment about motivation. I think you have over simplified what external achievements are. They are often things like helping your community, entertaining people, winning for your team. Al good fun stuff. All ideal for wellbeing. I would imagine that people with a good structure around them and who achieve a lot are higher on average in terms of well being. Just look at what the opposite would be. To be honest your comment is utter oversimplified crap with inaccurate language as per usual. Spam basically. You're a fool ossien.

One of my favorite traits is that I too can out stubborn myself like this where my will to succeed makes things happen. When failure is not an option you make it happen. At first when you aren't used to pushing then you don't know if you can but once you start to prove to yourself again and again that you are capable that's where the magic is born.

I am listening to his book in Audible and i am loving it, specially i love the interview-podcast along each chapter of the book. I wish more authors did that in Audible because it helps highlight the message in the chapter and add good insights, it is even easier to remember the message. David does a great job to keep the listener interested and entertained, i highly recommend his book! And i am not a good reader, but since im listening audiobooks, im listening to one book per month only during my work-home commuting time! Give it a go 😊

You are a great example of the average mindset, versus a warriors mindset. He is not trying to promote injury, he is just sharing his story. It may seem extreme, but look at him now. He goes after it everyday. Wether you see it or not, he is happy and he's doing his part: walkig his unique path, with an ultimate focus.

I think people should listen to their own internal guidance and determine what is best for them. No one can truly speak on the consequence of someone else’s actions. What I get from Goggins isn’t necessarily the physical aspect of his stories but more so the mental. His stories tell me that we as humans have greater capabilities then we allow ourselves to explore. If you solely look at the physical of Goggins’ “testimony “ then I think you are losing the big picture and the point. It IS dangerous if you try to live HIS truth and not a your own. If you follow the warrior mindset to live out YOUR truth then you can only benefit.

@Andrew Jackson Pain tolerance is one thing, pushing your body beyond its physical limitations is another. I could handle the pain that I was in. That's why I kept pushing, but once you are broken it doesn't matter how much pain you can endure, your broken body doesn't work anymore. Pushing through an injury can cause permanent disability. I appreciate his message to persevere but I think his story is dangerous because it will push others to do the same thing - people whose bodies can't handle it.

Im listening to this and am afraid to say that this dosnt sound healthy. After the 70 miles when he was in such bad shape, I was shocked he continued the last 30. Yes, his mind is very strong and we can do more than we can even imagine, I get that. But my point is . . he also needs to listen to his body. He could have caused himself some permanent physical damage-or worse could have died! I am glad he is fine- obviously he was in some good shape to begin with. Please listen to both Mind AND Body, they work together and there needs to be a balance!

What’s balance for you doesn’t mean it’s the same for him. It’s unhealthy if YOU didn’t listen to yourself and lived in your own truth and definition of balance. I think sometimes the point is missed when we look at a message and see it only in the literal sense. For me, Goggins shows how strong we as humans are MENTALLY. Maybe he does listen to his body but also have a connection with the way he THINKS. It’s all in perspective. No one else can be Goggins. No one else can be you.

I don't agree with it's okay. I'm going shun and shame bigots and racists. If we ignore that stuff it's not going away. I agree with using the anger and fueling resilience. Use EVERY experience. Reflect on your interactions. Be intentional and sincere. Be serious about the quality of life that you want. And while there is definite wisdom in here, it fails to remind everyone that this is his path. He's telling you he made mistakes and what now works for him. Everyone's path is different. Take the wisdom and let it multiply.

I think where most of the people get David Goggings wrong is thinking that he is saying to put your body through tremendous amount of suffering to become great at something. He is just saying that it was something worked for him. The real message he wants to convey is when u amidst a crisis in your life , u need to do something to get you out of that situation coz there's no point in being a crybaby. Just do something , whatever makes u tick and keep doing it with a David Goggings mindset so that very thing becomes ur identity and that identify should be so concrete that any thing else in ur life cannot penetrate. That's the thing that should remain and resonate with you till the day u die. Period.

Goggins though I do appreciate the drive and helping people. Seems like the kinda guy that will be dead at 55 from a heart attack or something else. Because he treated his body like garbage to achieve the minds goals. Creating all that cellular damage from metabolic stress....over time. It's why vegan runners still drop dead. The body is not a machine it's a metabolic one with hormones etc. So ya you achieved goals ran 1000s of miles but you died early because your heart gave out or brought on cancer from your bodies inability to cope with the stress without recovery you are putting on it......then your mind you've been working on with it hopes and dreams dies too. That's not a Win to me........I guess you achieve big things and become a "Legend" and you deserve it for your hard work. But you could have lived 35 more years and achieved more and helped more people. I hope he does well....and hopefully it's all bs for the camera and he actually has normal wrkouts....and trains smart and takes time to recover. Then cool.
