I needed this a couple weeks ago 😭 I was alone at a gas station air pump floundering around with literally no clue what I was doing. Ended up with three over-inflated tires and one severely deflated. This helps a lot, next time I'll be more confident! Thank you! 🙏🏻

My own Dad passed some time ago and while my husband is usually around to help, this weekend he was out of town for work and I found myself stranded with a dangerously low tire while taking my son to school. It followed with the very sobering realization that I’ve never had this happen without help before. Thanks so much for this video… I knew I couldn’t call my husband from so many time zones away and while my next thought was to call my Dad (even after he’s been gone 11 years) my very next thought was you and this channel. Thanks again!!!

I might want to add: Temperature changes changes the tire pressure too thats why you have to check pressures regularly. Also do it before driving. Preferably early morning.
@keliaan5 ай бұрын
So, in hot days, is it recommended to put a little less air in the air, or other precautions? Sorry 'bout my bad English.
@mikeuy54505 ай бұрын
Just follow the tire pressure recommendations. My tires lose ~5psi when cold and gain ~5psi when warm. Regularly check them tire pressure when the temperature changes.@@keliaan

DON'T look at the side of the tire, it can say FAR more pressure than the car recommends. Always go based off the door.
@drew_peacuck5211 Жыл бұрын
What’s indicated on the side of the tire will be the max pressure/load it can take. The inside of the door will always have the optimal pressure/load It clearly states that on the tire right next to where it says it so if anyone does end up putting whatever it says into tires, it’s on them, they’re dumb.

He never showed me how to check my tires or my oil but I can make a head gasket in a pinch... 50 year old me making head gaskets still for other people. Why do I know this? This is not a thing I should know how to do... Like ever. I can make them for cars, trucks, and even tractors

Hi, Thanks for your excellent tutorials. My Uncle worked at a tyre company. He taught us, that before you replace the cap, if you lick your finger, apply spit to the valve, you can check for leaks, because it will bubble, if your tyre has a slow puncture.

Holy crow, you have no idea how helpful this is! My actual dad didn't teach us girls ANYTHING. The tire pressure idiot light typically comes on when I'm from far from home and don't know how to find someone to help me. What a horrible feeling it is to know you may be ruining your tires by driving on them when under-inflated.

Also to add, the indicated tyre pressure on the driver side door frame can show differing pressures for front and rear tyres. It can also indicate different recommended pressure depending on the number of passengers in the car. The indicated tyre pressures are for cold tyres - aka tyres that have not been driven on for the past few hours. I typically add 10% to the recommended PSI since I have to drive at least 1km to the nearest petrol station for an air pump, and would thus be pumping into hot tyres.

The only thing I would add, if if you are adding air when the tires are warm after driving, is to add 3 pounds of air to the pressure indicated on the tire sticker. That way, when the tires cool off, they will be at the proper pressure. Sticker pressure is the cold temperature.

I have just brought a car and found this video useful, can I ask where did you buy your tyre pump from ?
@allyr4272 Жыл бұрын
This one is pretty good. In CA, you get free air at any gas station with purchase. Also, if you are still weary, any auto shop will set you up, and give a few bucks for a tip.
@vickeyflynn125311 ай бұрын
I have never had to make a purchase. Just ask them to turn the air on and they have always done it. Now if it is closed you would need to pay to get it turned on at the air pump. I used to pay until my nephew was with me and said no you dont have to pay. I believe that they cannot refuse to turn it on. And yes, I'm in Sacramento, California.

Coming from the uk, the air pump there can be set with the right pressure and the air pump would stop at that pressure. It’s my first time yo fill the tires. I am surprised how primitive the Canadian air pumps at the gas stations are. Could it be related to the extreme cold weather here?

@DadhowdoI6 ай бұрын
I have a “pancake” air compressor which is good for way more than this. You can get a fairly inexpensive air compressor if you’re only using it to fill up your tires. Gas stations usually provide an air station, but you will usually need to put quarters in it. You should get a digital gauge as it is more accurate than a manual gauge. 👍🏻

It sounds like you need to push the air hose all the way onto the valve stem. If you don’t, it will let air out of the tire.
