Curb chains and leather curb straps do serve the same purposes - to help keep the bit in place and to provide an additional point of leverage and contact when you pull back on the reins. As I’m sure you can imagine, curb chains have a bit more “bite” than a leather strap, but like all things bit-related, it’s really the hands of the rider that make the difference (a harsh bit can be used softly by a very skilled rider, while even a simple snaffle can be used too strongly by a novice rider). That’s why we always recommend working with a trainer to figure out what’s best for you and your horse. +SmartPak, i know this is weird for you ,but if you go to Chicks saddlery that have whips, they work great well a d are cheap, but for sure go to smart pak they have GREAT options and service 😊
