Would you say you can change from a standard fracture boot to one of these after 4 weeks. My hospital provided me with a standard one and I feel a vacoped would be better

Great Video Chris... I am finding that the top of the bottom of the boot where the bottom strap is propped rubbing the top of my foot. I've even tried letting them off loose which is better but then it feels like my ankle isn't as tight into position. Have you ever had anyone come across a similar issue ? Would you be able to bandage your foot or wear a sock whilst in the boot ?

HI, Thanks for getting in touch. Yes, it would be fine to wear a sock if the boot is rubbing. Hope you continue to make a good recovery.

@@CompletePhysio I had the same problem. A piece of foam resolved the problem for me.

These boots are crap the velcro on the internal boot is outa line and dosent fasten tight enough. They are also really heavy...wearing this in bed is awful

How on earth are you supposed to get it on and off by yourself? I can't find any video for that- they're all of a physio doing it for people. I live alone and don't have access to a physio every time I need to change clothes! I can't even get a sock on by myself without twisting my foot to the side...letalone this complicated boot.

Undo the velcro it all slides off...it's really common sense

It's getting it on again that's the problem. The company who make these boots (OPED) told me themselves that it's ideal to have someone else do it for you. I can't get on a good angle to do it myself without causing pain/twisting. I've removed that boot now and put my lighter, more user friendly air pumped boot- thdt I can actually walk in, back on! The clinic put me in the wrong size vacoped so it was a nightmare- but I don't want another one as it's far too heavy for me to lug about- I already have a chronic illness and simply don't have the body strength to deal with that boot. I found the boot itself disabling- I was unable to do basic daily things in it that I need to do as I live alone and have to look after myself.

@@alice-in-wonderland.1223 fair enough. I'm three weeks into it and agree they are heavy and uncomfortable I take it off to sleep which has set me back in re injuring myself.

@@alice-in-wonderland.1223 the whole point of the boot is to disable the rage of movement that's the problem.

My lighter, less disabling air boot does that too...it's also absolutely awful to sleep in though! I don't think any boot would be comfy in bed. I was checked today and apparently I'm doing ok recovery wise- wearing the air boot. Thankfully the physio didn't try to make me wear the Vacoped again, I was really worried they would as that clinic uses them. I'm pretty much unable to function in it, I'd need a carer to do everything for me! It may be fine for people with more body strength...definitely not suitable for me due to my existing illness...thankfully the physio understood that!

I have broke my femur and had a heart transplant. Living with this boot was torture compared to both the heart transplant and complete fracture to my femur. These are a form of torture for the 21st century that the witch finder general did not think of. Surely you inflate the boot to make it comfortable? Why on this earth do you suck air out. Did the manufacturers send out the wrong instructions? I am bewildered!
