for early game levelling, theres an island that frequently spawns metal slimes, you can do this around the time youre doing the mermaid stuff

Don't forget to have Rab on the fourth slot to use his pep ability to put the slimes to sleep.

Once I did this, I was level 55 and I got to level 60 first try. I got 38 skill points from this. I needed this because the drustan trials are hard. Thanks!

In flying island called battleground u can allways meet liquid with bonedragons is great place for grinding.

Now that's an OP move if i ever see 1, turning enemies into the metal slime variants for exp galore o_o

The strength of the monsters doesn’t have anything to do at all with the quality of the metal slimes. The kind of metal slimes depends solely on your current party level. In addition, for the Halelujah/electro light pep combo, the best place to set it up without pep pips is undoubtedly Downtown Heliodor outskirts, where you come out with Erik after escaping the sewers. Find the saber tooth, baby or adults doesn’t matter. They will neither flee nor harm you enough for you to have to heal, nor will they inflict any status ailments. Just leave only one alive and start defending until everybody peps up and then do hallelujah and then electro light. You’re gonna level up like crazy and it’s not gonna take that long

Grinding by repeatedly beating Cruelcumbers is obviously the best method, won't even take ya more than a year.

The enemies you choose to turn into metal slimes don’t dictate what kind of slimes you get, that’s your levels, but it does impact how much extra exp you get, as the game treats the turned enemies as defeated. I defeated some bone dragons in the battleground and got aroud 800k exp, whereas in the video it shows him getting around 700k.

What's the best way to kill metal slimes? I have all characters now but still don't know which abilities to use.

You can also use Rab's pep power on the metal slimes to put them to sleep, giving your more turns to defeat them before they run away.

Seems with the weaker monsters give less xp draconion option this method is a lot more difficult since past a certain point it seems the small metal slimes give no xp, and the big slimes seem pretty rare.

To be honest, this is the only but the biggest gripe I have of this game in my honest opinion. You have to do so much prep work just to get more EXP while in every other DQ game you could go to a specific island to grind. Dunno why they would make that even more of a chore to do for their newest game.

Now all I can think they are missing is a main game/Tickington quest guide, Mini Medal guide, seed grinding guide, and Costume location guide. :D Granted these can be found online, but they have already covered a few things regardless. Plus some people are still working out the quests in Tickington I'm sure.

Unfortunately this won't work if you have the "No experience gained or weaker monsters" draconian quest. Still, very effective. Thanks for this!

Does anyone know why my characters lose their pep after like 15 turns of just defending? I thought you didn't lose pep if you are just defending...

Late to the party, but can someone clarify how you'd save during a battle? As in, he says cast Hallelujah, then Electro Light, but save before Electro Light. I'm guessing that's just an error? But, if it's not, someone let me know :)

In the secret entrance of Mount Huji, fighting the Malicious Lava Lamplings along with the Malicious Lava Slimes, using the Electro Light Pep Up move seems to get the Metal Slimes every single time, not just by chance. This is of course after beating the first game and going back in time to save Veronica. This is also on the Switch version so it may not be on every version.

Part of JRPGs is learning how to optimally grind. Dunkey never does this.

Why grind. Just play the game with Hero, Sylvando and Jade, and swap the characters out every time they get pepped to save their pep powers to use hallelujah. Defeat the slimes then repeat and you can just keep playing. It works best as long as you have crit claim on Eric to consistently kill the biggest exp source among those slimes.

Don't bother with hallelujah. You're making the battle x10 longer for only x2 the exp

Why use Serena for healing? Sylvando has a really good AoE heal.

This method is so annoying for jade to pep up twice alone takes 15 minutes of straight up defending

The fact I have to come here means leveling is too damn slow these stupid jrpgs catering to their hikikimori crowd I'm lv 41 after 27hrs that's too damn slow and I don't wanna fight these stupid enemies anymore

These type of videos just make more people believe all JRPGs are grind-fests. It's really pretty annoying
