How do you add materials to it? Pls response to this question

Thank you Ekene, for this question. Let me go ahead and say that some skp components do not require you to do anything as it regards to materials application, as soon as you import them into Revit, they are already looking good off the bat, but then there are some that don’t, so let’s talk about those one and what to do in situations like that. Well, There are ways to do this but If you are bring in the SKP file in directly, you will have the list of materials in your Revit material list. It takes some tinkering to figure out which material is what, but you can figure out which material is what objects by going through the list in the objectstyles (object styles is right beside materials in the Manage tab) and modifying them. Or you can find out for sure which is which by opening the file in sketch up, creating layers and assigning different parts of the model to those layers after that, head over to the materials tab and export the materials’maps then save the file in a lower year, (sketch 8 is ok)…. Now, When you reimport the skp file into revit ensure that the layer/levels are set to all, preserve colour and as we did in this video leave the scale to auto detect, import the sketch up file. Now to apply the same material that it came with, go to manage tab, right beside materials you’ll find objectstyles, click on the object style, select imported materials there you’ll see where you can add materials, create new materials using the maps that came with the sketchup files that you exported earlier. I hope it’s clear, I think I should do a video about this, let me know if I should do a video about this process.

@@letsvibe982 ofcourse… and guess what, you don’t even need revit for that… importing sketchup files into lumion is one of the easiest out there… you might just have to do a thing or two for the materials to be up to speed as per fine tuning it to get the best outcome

Great video. These downloaded materials, are they good enough for renders in rendering softwares?
@SimpleorDifficult
@SimpleorDifficult Жыл бұрын
To be honest, based on the technology we have nowadays, and the render engines we have in existence now, it is not the best… but then it has it’s use, firstly it’ll give you something, if you use sketchup to render and you want to reconcile the components between your working dwgs and Visuals, secondly the sketch up components and better than most Revit components the major down side is that Skp components are not parametric(which is a very huge problem 🙃)

For Enscape, it may not look cool in the renders compared to other enscape components- however there’s a way you can use 3ds max models in enscape

There is no way to remove these 3D geometry edges in Revit. However, the lines of any object created as a 3D solid may be made less prominent or invisible by using the Linework tool. Click the Linework tool on the Tools toolbar. In the Type Selector, select .
