Great. I cannot file my taxes due to them telling me they cannot verify me, then refusing to tell me why. This is literally a privately owned company holding American citizens IRS info hostage. They all should be in prison.

Why do these type of videos make everything look so easy but in reality it is not. I cannot for the life of me i can’t upload my drivers license.

I checked today 10/12/2022 with 3 of the most advertised accountants in my area (Asheville NC) and 2 had never heard of this (or would not admit to it ) and the 3rd offered little help.

If this is "easy" I'd sure like to see what complicated looks like to those IRS geniuses. Sheesh.

The app won't let me take the photos of my ID. And if course they didn't show how that worked. Works great when it works I guess.

I love how you tell us to upload the photos without showing the phone screen and how to do that. Also, we see the back of the phone through the whole process, so we cannot really see the screen and what is happening. This did not help me at all. I have a serious problem that needs to be resolved by the IRS and I feel like I am blocked at every level. It took about eight months for my taxes to be received and acknowledged by the IRS. Now I need to file an amended tax form and I am afraid that the IRS is going to take action against me when I really don't owe them any money. If I use the US Postal service, it may take up to six months for this to be resolved. What has happened to the IRS?

I did all of this. Now I can’t get into my account or access anything for that matter. I can’t even verify that it’s me, it won’t let me. It’s been nearly 2 years and I still can’t get back into my account.

it's impossible. Took me 25 tries and no, they will not accept the selfie my phone is able to take. I give up. 2 lost days working on this, and nothing.

This is not as easy as they make it out to be. They ask you to wait to talk on a video call.

I think this video is helpful for most people. I need some trouble shooting video. My first attempt began as this video outlines and then it went downhill fast. It's been two days (so far) attempting to connect the IDMe account with the IRS. At first my photos were not accepted from uploads and from phone. Since, I've had to to take photos of 3 pieces of ID (passport, school ID, and health insurance) and a selfie to submit. I found this tutorial as I am waiting for a required IDMe video call?! Ugh. I have had no information on what I may be doing wrong - hope everyone else has an easier go at it. Best!

The problem is scanning your face with your phone or webcam doesn't work which is the hardest step to get through.

I have done this process multiple times for multiple clients it always ends with a "change rejected " message when trying to take the selfie on a smart phone and we can get no further, fails every time. This process is very broken and the help is worthless! I'm doing the process right now and it is failing just like so many times before! Glad to hear the IRS is scrapping this piece of CACA !

Aside. I was not so impressed with the ID.me website. Some issues. I couldn't "See" the entire page shown to access the "next" or "continue" button on the bottom...until I finally found out I had to change the screen size to about 75% for the entire page to show up. This is nuts. Then...when I tried to upload my driver's license photo from my desktop....I couldn't do that either because of (maybe?)..... too large file size or because it wasn't saved as a JPG, but a PDF instead. I also waited for the "Circle" to time put before my next step...and it never worked this way; it actually worked WHILE the spinnning "wait" circle was in-play. Also nuts. The process altogether was NOT a simple , few minute matter....maybe others here can chime in.

The scan did not work when I tried it. I had no idea what the colors were. After it failed, which only took about 5 seconds for the scan to fail, it would not let me continue any longer. Then I tired the video method. I could use my scan of my DL but there was no way to download another id that I could see. This took me hours and I still could find no way of continuing with this process.

I don't have a cell[hone. i got MFA work with a desktop phone. I had laptop, scanner and desktop phone. The whole process took me 4 hours. I logged in to IRS and my account. I found my tax problem. My1040x never arrived at the IRS.

I have a tax id me account just getting used to it. The facial recognition recognized me with my driver's license after I lost 100 pounds.

I hate anything that asks me for ID verification, once I see that it's worthless. The alternative is spending weeks on the phone trying to get in touch with an agent, but that's better than dealing with the ID bull.

We are leaving to verify for IRS reasons we almost finish the process but on my wife’s birth certificate it has her maiden name being married now it does not have the same name as her identification card so that’s what we’re stuck at what can we don’t

My issue. My wife and I file jointly. We both actually did receive our $1400 ( each) 3rd stimulus payment. All this is also verified by our joint bank statement showing $2800 was received. Here's the problem ( or is it a problem?). I received letter 6475.....my wife DID NOT. We then individually created our IRS web account and NEITHER of us show the $1400 ( $2800) paid out to us....although both prior stimulus payments # 1 and # 2 show up. I actually had to do a live zoom type call with an id.me agent showing me holding my passport. After that I got approved. Now they just let you take pics without the live interview. My application was at the beginning of the program; maybe they are not that strict anymore. I do value that IRS account.

Now a non government agency has your your facial recognition data and can do whatever they want with it. For years a simple iRS password worked fine. Now the government will bet able to follow your every move you make with facial recognition cameras placed everywhere.

is the most frustrating, invasive, difficult process you will ever experience. After finally jumping trur all loops...it says You will be contacted in 2 or 3 days for a personal video interview with a referee!! You never get that call! This is after submitting and resubmitting facial scans and photos that are repeatly rejected because they say they can read. i.e., 2 valid gov forms of i.d, (multiple submissions before acceptance) 10 scans before they were accepted, 5 codes send to iphones, social security #. All this just so I could login into my IRS account . I am now waiting for a video interview with a i.d. referee!! Please stop telling people this is easy.

I just ran into this today. Been claiming my elder mother for several years now with no issues. Now all of a sudden I need a pin number to claim her and neither of us have ever seen a number in the mail. Created the account but on the video they asked my mother what email we used which was mine and she couldn't answer it so we failed to verify her identity. Dumbest thing ever to add this crap.

This is another form of discrimination so mostly black people accounts are flagged an Id. Me claims they cannot verify after I gave them my Id and other info and they still said I canot be verified. So I have to go theu alot of red tape to sign into ssa and unemployment or irs.
