Great tip to connect the new cord to the old one. We fixed a wide blind and the cord needed was quite long - the broken cord went from the bottom of the left side of the blind, all the way across, looped down where you pull it, then back up and down the right side of the blind!! Luckily I bought a 10m cord.

I bought a new cord and by following these instructions was able to fix my blinds. It feels great to fix something instead of automatically chucking in the garbage. It was not difficult but it does take a few hours. Thanks for the great video!

@@josephsmith961 well...aren’t YOU a fabulous human. Thank you. You’ve no idea how many things I’ve gone on to fix. Currently a big terracotta pot that blew over in storm “Dave” or what ever it was called. I even managed to fix the stinger (electrode holder) on my welder. Who knew! X

Brilliant. I used method one, but as my blind is 7ft tall, I took it of the brackets first, and threaded through on the floor, in case the cord join broke half way through and gravity would have pulled the new cord out. Wise precaution, as it did break at one point but it was simply a matter of remaking the join and carrying on. Thanks for the great video.

I had to feed the cord through the blinds to the top then I tied the old and new together with thread and it pulled through. this video helped, thanks.

I just replaced the cord on blind in my RV. I used 3/32 (2.4 mm) heat shrink to attach new cord to old cord. Kept both pieces together and fed thru like a charm.

This was a good instructable xcept my blinds were far more complex. I had to actually start threading the string through the top first, go down to the very bottom, through a freewheel type mechanism, then all the way back up again to the top to be tied off, threading it through each slat and alternating like you did. Seems to be working ok now through.

Like an idiot, I removed the two pull cords completely, first. Restringing them was a huge pain. I put the blinds on the floor, and carefully ran the new cords through the header, and down through the blades. I think/hope everything works correctly. How simple to melt the old and new cord together and pull the new cord. Like I said, I was an idiot.

Hi there Great video. Class. My binnd has a plug at the bottom that has a sort of a cross in it. I've not removed it yet. It should be straight forward but I wanted your advice. TIA Regards

What if you have to replace both pull down cords? I've got 4 sets of cords going across my blinds. Do they both of the pull-down cords go through the set closest to the pulldown strings?

What are the beads on each cord for?
@gabriellebakker64892 ай бұрын
They stop the string at the top from pulling too much, possibly weakening the cord.
