Jana Klar washes her tape with soap to get a head start on wearing it in! So funny to see someone else wash their tape. I save some of my used sheets for when I try a new deck but dont want to wear in the tape 😅
@ToledoSoliderАй бұрын
I learned years back if you want to wear the tape in faster, dab your fingers in a little water and slide across the grip back and forth for a little friction then run a lighter across real fast! it's something I've done since finding out and it works perfect to break it in! There's nothing like having grip broken in on a fresh deck ! 💪 (EDIT) Just watched the video all the way through and noticed he does the same LOL 🤦♂

Using a hair dryer or heat tool will make the glue come off much easier. I found that just breathing really close to it also helps😂😂

Hey Mike! Just wondering if you're using a 34 mm or a 36 mm deck
@cylindrical2 ай бұрын
It’s 33.6 I think
@mikeschneider2 ай бұрын
33.6mm g16. this one might be a tad wider.
@user-pj6sc4cz8n2 ай бұрын
Hey Mike have you ever tried 1.5mm an if so why did you or didn't you like it?.. I feel like because the way you like to wear it in I would think you would prefer it
@mikeschneider2 ай бұрын
1.5mm is a bit too thick in my opinion

In fingerboarding, do we not make holes for the trucks’ hardware, like a real skateboard? Im confused
@Clayfacer2 ай бұрын
you can if you want to, and especially if you ever want to upgrade or change your trucks out it makes it more convenient. I've seen people use leather hole punch tool to make holes on the tape before applying, or you could cut the holes after the tape is one the deck, lots of ways to do it.
@DabbyDan2 ай бұрын
@@Clayfacer is it better to apply the trucks before putting the grip tape? Or do people put the grip tape first before adding the trucks?
@mikeschneider2 ай бұрын
Some do and some don't. I like it better without holes as it lasts longer for me, it tends to get ripped up near the holes first for me. A lot of my friends use it with the holes.
@DabbyDan2 ай бұрын
@@mikeschneider thanks for your input Mike! I’ve found that applying the grip before putting the trucks on makes the truck screws uneven on the surface, possibly due to the griptape causing the uneven surface. Next time i will try your method, trucks before griptape, to avoid the unevenness of the trucks screws!

I still do the old hair dryer method for taking tape off lol, but I’m still wearing in the one Ellen picked out for me that looks like your top ply for my bottom ply but more red and natural towards the top of the board with g4 peppermint wheels and dynamics(but may swap to my newer BRTs) but I love it bro! G16 is the new King of boards haha. I still got the other one coming as well so it’s just cool at 23 getting back into it all. I mean I did it for years and then off and on but anyway cool video.
