When the image is morphing and going in and out, is that you scrolling up/down or side-to-side in the body? I'm trying to orient myself while looking at these images and preparing for NBME CBSE

On axial CT images which is what he’s doing for most of the video, scrolling will be up and down in the body. Imagine the pt is lying on a bed and you are looking up through their body from the view of looking up through the feet. So in the thorax scrolling up will move towards lung apex and you’ll start to see trachea, thyroid, etc higher up. And as he scrolls down you’ll move into mediastinum seeing great vessels, heart, etc until he scrolls all the way down which will cut through diaphragm and enter abdominal cavity

Hi, I had a chest, pelvic, abdomen CT scan with contrast today. How big a deal is it that I had an underwire bra on? The radiologist/ tech didn't tell me until we were done that I should have taken it off or worn a sports bra. Is the chest portion essentially completely screwed, or is is sort of ok? Thanks.

@Medical Basics - Question if ANYONE is able to answer (I've been a ball of stress, worry and anxiety this past week. I can't eat, sleep, work, nothing). I recently developed Horner's Syndrome about a month ago. A common cause for this is a tumor on the lung apex or tumor somewhere in the brain, brainstem, or cervical spine. I had a chest CT with contrast last week and the radiologist report said there were no signs of tumors or "mass lesions." I also noticed that he completed the read of my CT scan in like 3-4 minutes. That being said, I'm super worried that he missed the tumor. After the CT, my left shoulder has been hurting for the past few days and this is a symptom of a tumor on the lung apex (with some pain near the collarbone at the base of my neck as well). I'm very worried he rushed through it or didn't pay attention to the lung apex and only focused on the "main part" of the lungs. How likely is this? Do all radiologists actually look at the ENTIRE set of lungs (from the apex down to the upper abdomen) or do they sometimes skip the clavicle/apex area? I'm praying that his report is correct, but I just can't figure out what else would be causing this Horner's Syndrome and pain in my shoulder (and between shoulder blades). They also did an MRI of my head and an MRA of my head and neck, which all came back normal. I want to have some peace of mind, can someone PLEASE help me out and give me some more information? THANK YOU!! PS - I called the imaging department at the hospital and spoke to a woman who said she's almost certain the radiologist would've checked the lung apex, but she can't know for sure. She said she'd ask him to review the images one more time and call me back if they noticed anything different (and said if I didn't hear from her that I should assume everything is the same as on their initial report). However, I don't know if that's something she actually did or if she just told me that to make me feel better and go away.

I think you can get another report of your scan if you present the files to another radiologist. However it is uncommon for radiologists to miss masses.

at like 3:45 you said right ventricle/atrium, isnt that the left ?
@Landfish159
@Landfish159 Жыл бұрын
The view is from the feet looking up towards the head so while the atrium and ventricle he points out are on our left as the viewer, it is actually the patient's right atrium/ventricle so he's correct. Good question!
