Winner of a video, I have been researching "why is the resistor symbol a zig zag?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Henucas Panrooklyn Equalizer - (should be on google have a look )? It is an awesome one off product for discovering how to repair electronic devices like a pro minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my neighbour got cool success with it.

I came because all my professor does is say, "all the information is in the book" and has us read it. We're lucky he puts power points and let's us do lab, yes. However, he doesn't share the power point to what the college calls "shell" because he's scared of "copyright." This is an in person class mind you, sir professor.

Well 3M6 is another way of writing 3.6 mega ohms, which is 3.6x10^6 or 36x10^5, which would be orange, blue, green from the table. For 5.72 ohms, this scheme would not be able to represent the 2, but since the tolerances which can be represented are 5% and 10%, and that 2 represents about 0.35%, its within the smallest margin of error for this system anyway, so we could just represent it with 5.7, or green, violet, gold.

@RoseNoho
@RoseNoho 6 жыл бұрын
Let's say the first 3 bands tell you the resistor is 330 ohms. (orange orange brown) And the last band is gold. (+/- 5%) 5% of 330 is 16.5. 330 + that 5% is 346.5 330 - that 5% is 313.5 So, the resistor is actually somewhere between 313.5 and 346.5 ohms.

I have two resisters. Both have 5 bands, no spaces, and only slightly different colors. Yet, I know one is 1K ohm and the other is 10K ohm. How do I know which is which since there is no directionality and the colors are ridiculously close to each other. One looks like brown, brown, black, black, brown. The other looks like brown, red, black, black, brown.
