Thank you so much. I just turned 29 and the dr. Tried to show me a few things but i was looking at the wrong spots. I have narrowing of foramen on both sides, an extruded disc. A few disc bulges. And impingement of the s1 nerve. I also had NO IDEA the pain in my foot that causes me to sometime not be able to walk (foot drop?) Is from that s1 impingement. I also have moderate to severe ddd. And arthritis of the lower back and something that I'm going to butcher the spelling of, spondylitis?) I appreciate a broken down explanation! Thank you. Now I can better decide whether I need a discectomy!

I see this is a 4 year old video, I'm hoping someone will still see this comment / question. I just had this MRI scan (Lumbar / Lower Back) done yesterday, and the imaging center gave me the CD from the procedure. I was looking at the images earlier today, and had no idea what I was looking at, ha ha! I only saw the second image, not the straight-on one of my spine itself, that must be on the CD, I'll have to look again. I have had numbness and pain in my right hip / low back area for two weeks. The first day two weeks ago, I went to the ER because the pain in my low back on the right side was that severe, my wife had to drive me there. Everyone at the ER was thinking kidney stones because of the severity and location of the pain. However, the CT scan showed all organs, including kidneys were normal with no stones. Two weeks later to yesterday (Friday, July 21, 2023) was when I had the MRI because the numbness and pain are still there. The only way I get relief is when laying on my back. Within 5 minutes, the pain and pressure stops. As soon as I'm up walking around, or even sitting, the pressure starts first, then it will get painful. I get up to walk, and if that isn't helping at that time, I lay down again. The numbness does not go into my leg, or anywhere else, it is only in what is usually referred to as the "love handle" area. That section of my right side has been numb for two weeks. Besides the internal pain in the same area, there are no other symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting, weakness in my leg, no pain or blood while urinating, no discomfort during bowel movements, etc., etc. No other symptoms besides the numbness and pain in my right hip / low back area that is relieved when laying down. This is Saturday (MRI on Friday evening), so it looks like the official results won't be known to me until Monday morning. Does anyone at this channel, or reading these comments have any idea what this could be? I'm hoping for a pinched nerve, as that would be the least problematic. If it is a muscle tear, that could get complicated, and if it is disk related, I'm hoping it is not degenerative. Thank you, Marc

Hi. What did it turn out to be? I'm having similar pain and had clear blood tests. I also have pain all over back, it tends to move around but lower back is where it just feels so bad. It's like the muscles are squeezed or tense and my sides hurt. And I get burning in lower and mid back

@@laremabella Hi Laremabella, my name is Marc. Unfortunately, 12 doctors later and no one knows what is wrong. It is about 9 1/2 months now that this has been happening. I have pain like a cramp in my right side / flank area all day, every day. It can get bad enough that I can't even stand, I have to lay on my back. The same area on my right side is also numb on the outside. For 9 1/2 months, a numb body part and not a single medical professional I've spoken with cares. Not a single person even suggested what the numbness could be from, and several almost ran out of the room after I told them this. Have you started anywhere with a doctor yet? Or are you researching?

@@marcd1981 Hi Marc. So sorry you're in pain too. Have u tried seeing a physio or osteopath? I have had pain in my back now on and off for 3 or 4 years. The most recent pain was for a week and it totally debilitated me. Not only was it the mid back burning and tight shoulders and pain all down the back and body, but also side and lower back pain which I had before and had blood tests for, which came back clear. I get bouts of pain and it causes the feeling like when u have a virus and yr body hurts and I'm hit with exhaustion too. Do u get that too?I've been researching yes. I was sedentary for months bc I injured my knees in November 2023 and they've gotten worse since then so I know I need them checked as well as my back. It can be chronic stress, posture, a deficient diet and injuries. In my case I think it's multiple injuries and all of the above except my diet is so good. but I still don't understand why I get bouts of pain with what feels like all the nerves in my body on fire. I'm looking into seeing a doctor, asking for an MRI on my back and knees, and physio. I also get burning in my brain from stress 😔

@@laremabella Hello, again. Yes, I have seen a DO, and I have also gone for physical therapy. I've also tried chiropractic and acupuncture. The two procedures I had in January were an epidural and a nerve block. No change to my pain levels at all. I don't know if you've heard this, or read this, but the symptoms you are having sound like Fibromyalgia. Have you looked into that?

Hello, I just got my MRI and it says that I have a 3 mm l5-s1 circumstantial disc bulge with mild lower neural foraminal narrowing, central canal is normal. I am having pretty severe discomfort on my central lower back when sitting down or driving. Can anybody help to explain my situation?any help would be appreciated, since I have stopped working because of it. Thank you.
@zacholtman7849

You have disk herniation that is extending into the canal the nerve roots travel through. Your central canal is fine, which means there is no spinal cord compression. What's being compressed are the nerve roots that leave the spinal cord into the neural foramen.
