I learned more from this 8 minute video about key signatures than I could in a quarter of theory lessons, then again I wasn't trying that hard
@Mr3sta17 жыл бұрын
another easy way to figure out the key signature is just taking the last sharp (lets say for the key of C# the last sharp would be on the B) and just go up by one note. For flats you can just look at the second to last flat and that would be the key signature.

I used to do like this too. Now, for the sharps, I find it even easyer to just think that the last sharp is the sensitive note, the 7th degree - and so the 1st degree of the major key is a semi tone higher.

Jeff553 Studios NOOO! THAT IS VERY WRONG! if you say battle ends and down goes father Charles, then the key signature is going to be wrong! Seriously? I’m sorry if I’m rude but I get angry sometimes at people when they say silly things! That are false or-Oof...pls don’t tell me you’re a piano musical person!(or were you making a joke?-not likely)

your phonetic pronunciation of BEADGCF is very helpful! For the sharps I just made the sentence... "Felix (the) Cat Gets Down Around Every Bend." I took theory in high school but in my class every year we were always goofing around and the material never really sunk in, so thanks for the refreshment course! :) new subscriber!

My teacher shows even easier method to figure out what key it is in. Just take the last key in the key signature and add a whole tone to it for the sharp. For example, key signature on F, then it's G major. Last key signature on G, then it's A major. Last key signature on D, then it's E major. Last key signature on E, then it's F# major. For flat, it is the second to last one. For example, key signature on B and E then it's Bb. Key signature on B E A and D then it is Ab major (A is second to last) This is helpful to quickly identify it when looking at the score without having to draw out FCGDAEB. I always remember it as Funny Cat Goes Dancing And Eats Bananas.

For me, it's easier to just remember the order of sharps as Father Charles Goes Down After Every Battle (I've also seen Father Charles Goes Down And Eats Breakfast) - since it's a complete sentence. Then I remember "Sharps skip forward. Flats step forward" Essentially move forward two for sharps and one for flats. That way I don't have to worry about the reverse order and going backward for flats.
