The 10th line is the next grid reference. So if you ready 019 then the next 6th figure will make it 020 - another square

@@GeographerOnline oh ok... just seems different from the other videos in terms of number of lines. like this one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jbR1Y85ovs2cm4E.html in it, the number of lines not including the border lines is 9 ... while in 4:06 the number of lines not including the border lines seems to be 8.

So it doesn't matter if you have a 1:50k or a 24k or a 62k map, they all are 1000 meter grid lines right, so I can use my protractor and get distance and azimuth . I'm I correct in that assumption?
@xdgaming952
@xdgaming952 2 жыл бұрын
i didn't get you exactly, why are u using a protractor? for bearings? but anyways yes it doesn't matter whatever the map ratio is.. you just have to read those lines.. eastings first and northings later

So just to be sure, northings are not latitudes and eastings are not longitudes, do i have that correct? I first thought they were the same but then you said northings and eastings always go up in value as you move further north and east respectively. But latitudes only do so if you are in the northern hemisphere and longitudes only if you are east of the 0 degree meridian
