How to Read Your Human Design Chart (+ Study It)

The Human Design Chart can be really confusing at first glance. But don't worry I'll walk you through it in a simplified way in this Human Design Guide!
The goal here is to give you a better understanding of human design so that you can learn how to use that body of knowledge in your business, lifestyle, or whatever it may be. Here I'll give a body graph explanation where we talk about terms like "gate" "channels" and "definition" in a simple way. In the end, I'll show you how I read a body graph so you can get an idea of understanding the human design chart
So I hope this video will be helpful in your human design journey and gives you perspective on how human design and business tie together.

Indira, my good friend is a professional HD practitioner, she asks me questions about astrology and I ask her about HD. She is far more advanced in her field so I don’t like to bother her too much🫣. Dear Amanda, Thank you very much for this video. I recently learned that I am probably a projector. I watched another video of yours (before this one) and it's starting to make a lot of sense! I'm definitely going to watch more videos and tutorials on your channel♥ The thing is, my mom doesn't remember the time I was born, so when I first got my HD chart (maybe 15 years ago) I just used noon and the result was "Generator". I recently met someone who helped me identify that I was probably born in the afternoon (around 4:30 pm) and when I saw all the information about Projectors it blew my mind 🤯 I'm going to dig deeper and can't wait for what I will learn about myself. Fun fact: The person who helped me guess the hour of my birth INVITED me out for coffee to talk about something we had in common. Also, I wanted to ask, how do you work with people who don't know the time of their birth? Any tips on that? I would like to double-check the information before I book my reading. Thanks Amanda for this great overview! Very helpful. Looking into the first few parts of my chart brought already one big confusion to me. I am a Generator with Sacral Authority and need to wait to respond. But as soon as something comes my way to respond to my sacral response is SPONTANEOUS in the moment, right? Now - I also have an open spleen and I read over and over that I should NOT BE SPONTANEOUS when I have this trait. I don't have the means to book a whole session to just get an answer about this and I did not find anything yet online which would help me to clear my confusion. Maybe for you this is not confusing at all and you have a simple answer which could help me to relax about it.

I got you 😉 your authority is your gut and it will very much be on a moment by moment basis (in response to whatever comes into your world). How your gut response occurs is going to vary depending on which channels you have coming out of the sacral. For example, if you have gate 34 connecting to your throat in gate 20 (or your identity center via gate 10) ... I've heard these individuals have such fast energy that their gut response isn't verbal, it's a physical rush to move toward something. It's like your body saying YES! Even if you don't verbally say it. Ultimately, the only way you'll tap in with it is to experiment. Do your best to respond using your gut and then pay attention to where that leads ... does it bring satisfaction (you're on the right track) or frustration (you somehow didn't wait to respond or use your gut, analyze where you went wrong). What you read about the spleen is accurate about it being in the moment, but it operates a little differently. Don't get caught up on that. Hope this helps!

May I ask about dormat gate- for ex if a dormat gate is in the SUN or EART or MOON both P and D side, and being that dormat gates are inconsistent because they are in the open center... So, if a person has these gates in SUN AND EART on both D and P side which makes 70% of personality, how then these person has inconsistent access to them or how to say? are they activated only by transits and interaction with ppl?

If. there are more than one option to join spit definitions, does that mean there are 3 possible options or is there one preferred? For example a MG split definition - a definition between root, solar plex and throat, with G centre and sacral as second definition gates 31 and 33 in throat, and gate 6 in solar plex are activated and possible to connect with either gates 7, 13 or 59, is there a preferred channel or centre to chose?

That means that's your only channel! You're a mental projector. The 17-62 is a fun one. You've got lots of details to back up your opinions! 17-62 individuals are people you def don't want to get into a fight with cause they'll usually win 😂 The trick with your design (and any) is to learn to not make decisions from your head though. You have an active mind so that can be very challenging. Instead, you need a good sounding board (friends to chat with) and to be alone in an environment you feel good in before you make big decisions.

Interesting differentiation made. Repression sets in the unconscious, suppression is with some bit of awareness of the held up and seeking release, and next stage is about more conscious empowerment and agency... to change and choose it. Right? The need to share, convey authentically, be understood is perhaps away from containment.... isn't it? As i observe my inner and outer patterns, i see my need to be understood decreasing....more self sufficiency and self reliance setting in, even if I ve to risk a lot, and go through things hard way.... not leaning, seeking support ( upto information is fine) , from others, or their acceptance or empathy....feels more free as well as responsible. Looking forward to your response. Yet to watch the next video mentioned.

Love the depth in this comment. Hmmm what's your type? One thing that came up for me as I read it was me being a projector who relies on recognition as a strategy. I think if anything, it's learning to wait for the right people to offer recognition and having a place to channel my energy as I wait. But recognition is still key!

It certainly is!! I'm right there with you. It means you're very receptive to the energy around you. It can pull you away from your unique self but once you become wise to how the energy works, you have lots of wisdom to pull upon and share with others.

I just had to look up myself again, but also my man en 2 kids! As you might still know, I'm a Manifestor with Emotional authority. But guess what! I'm living with 3 Generators with Emotional Authority! I still gotta figure out what that means and how it can help me. From what I do understand (i'm only at 11:59 in your video btw) is that Generators could help me carry out all the things I manifest/start/initiate so that I don't burn out because I don't have the energy to complete everything on my own (which I usually do), so I need to include them more? For sure I know I need to inform them on what it is I'm gonna do 😜

Yeeees. The manifestor type is best described as the king / queen monarchy. They have a vision and then they command their people to execute on that vision. In today's world, it shows up as a manager. Set the vision, manage the execution of it. Constantly asking "do I know when enough is enough?" is huge to recognize when you need to delegate.

You're a reflector!! Only 2% of the population is reflectors so consider yourself extra unique and different. Doing a reading with someone is def the best way to go for you cause there's a lot of nuances to reflectors and less info online since there are so few of them compared to other types 😊

I am a manifesting Generator with all my centers defined except my head center which is undefined I thought my authority was my sacral center. Hi Zahara. If you look at the chart in the video, you'll see the Solar Plexus, Root, Sacral and Throat connected, that's one part of the spilt definition (the other defined group is the Head and Ajna). The authority is emotional because there is a hierarchy of the 4 motors in the chart. The SP is 1st of the 4 in this hierarchy so when defined as in this chart, it will be the inner authority. 16:09 It's crazy to think just 11 months ago we didn't have access to things like ChatGPT every since Novemeber of last year researching stuff like this became so much easir and more accessable using GPT as your personal teacher. You can ask it any question and get and instant, direct, and unbiased response.

I have found that ChatGPT can give some false info with HD though so be a little cautious with what you learn from it! It certainly will improve with time though : )

Hi! I have a couple of questions: As the human design is based in a mix of practices, which part of the body graph is defined by astrology? It uses the tropical or sidereal system? Thanks! :)

Astrology comes in with the placement of the gates. It helps flavor the meaning of the gate for each person. Each gate also has a zodiac sign attached to it that helps astrologers better understand how that gate operates. Ex. A lot of the gates in the root are cardinal energy which is initiating.

To be honest, I'm not sure! You'll have to research that a bit more. I got into HD first and haven't dove as deep into astrology as I have into this. While there's elements of astrology, it's merely one part. I'd love to learn more about astrology but I simply can't get enough about HD so I've been focused there.

Sorry for the delay -- It's tropical! Each gate falls under one of the zodiac signs (aka scorpio, capricorn, etc.) and each gate also has a Plantary placement as well. Aka Gate 28 is Scorpio and it falls underneath my conscious sun so my sun sign is Scorpio.

Honestly said, I really would love to know how all these informations systematically work together...as a selforganising, intelligent lifeorganism does....that would be the real informations behind you find nowhere...contexts make the meanings. And that's also the reason why, the more I dive in into HD, I feel a kind of resistance because at the end it is simply a concept again...and it just reminds me to Buddha quoting: "Never trust a teacher or a Guru, experience and find out what might be the truth for you"? Doh...its like just overloading thinking and using to much mind agson instead of diving in intutionally and bodily...cause atvleast it us your body that contains all the evolutionary knowledge, and receives the conscious as well as the unconscious informations...whereas mind just grabs some blinks and beeps...knowing nothing but believing seriously beeing an authority which it isn't.

I'm soooo delayed in replying to this comment, but I couldn't help myself. I hear you. HD can quickly pull someone into their mind, but it's designed to be an EMBODIED experience. I really believe that HD is a somatic experience when you fully lean into the experiment. It's exactly what you're saying -- experimenting with it for YOURSELF, not just having someone else tell you what it is. So from my lens, you're actually describing HD perfectly even though you were meaning to create an argument against it.

@@AmandaHorvath mhhh, glad you replied, I m not for nor against something, I just reflect, trying to figure out, wanting to understand the mechs as well....like uncovering the moves....in it that each gate or center does....so it would be amazing if there was someone who could do a 3D animation woth interaction of all levels vause it also reaches the metalevels as well. So gor exmpl....what if dome projectors are here fpr just expressing them and by their nature just transform energies so to say as a kind of transmitter for esrth to the heavenly 9lains? Sounds maybe ridiculous but maybe a lot of us are just here to hold space?

@@AmandaHorvath See I have no idea about this shiznit I know astrology to an extent, more from the psychological breakdown of the signs and recognizing the planet shift energies on how those can act like personalities and ways they can influence individually or collectively... Houses, not so much Back in the 90s I was starting to learn i-ching and i have one of my books from then so I could create a "tarot" deck to putz around with and (re)learn I follow enough tarot/astrology readers So my intuition is tested and I'm great with it but HD has me curious except it's weirdly complicated to find what I need, in the way I need it to get out of the "vaguebooking" sort of feel... Except I don't know what I need, I just know I'll recognize it eventually But what I've learned over the last 3 days It sounds like when HD is combined with astrology and tarot, there's this sort of Venn diagram sweet spot And it feels like whatever I'm looking for in the learning style I need... It's coming from that Venn diagram feel Kinda like most of a sudoku board is filled in, knowing how many spots are left and having to figure it out But then having to treasure hunt for any of the numbers to fill in the slots on the board 😂 But it is fascinating and I'll definitely watch more of the content
