Thanks a lot kelly for your great support. Could you do one more favor for me? Could you mention some helpful books that supports instinctive acting and helps to really free our instrument ? it will be a great help.

Great video. I find that I have to change my voice either in tone or accent slightly to be the character otherwise I’m too aware of myself being me. Is that advisable? One teacher told me to stop changing my voice and just be me .

Wonderful video. As an actor, even with all the work and the prep, it can sometimes still be difficult to silence the ego and not have it constantly chatting to you. Do you have any tips on freeing one’s instrument so that the actor’s inhibition can be reduced? is it simply a matter of preparing even more? prioritizing relaxation techniques?

As brilliant as always. I KNOW you helped me not only get the biggest role of my life…but nail it. Be willing to let the “actor” fail so the character’s needs are met.

Hey Jo, I wanted to ask you if I am on the right path. I am practicing meditative-mindful exercises that makes me focus on the sounds and words one person makes and everytime my focus shifts back insidd my head I carefully put my focus back on the other person.

I recently just graduated from my college where I majored in Business, but did theatre on the side. I came in freshman year as a party extra in a play and left with my last role being Roxane in my college’s big semester production Fine Arts series of Cyrano de Bergerac (a play that has a unique heritage at my college). But my director in Cyrano literally micromanaged me to a pulp. It didn’t help that I didn’t realize I was suffering from severe burnout and depression during that time. When I tried to audition for a drama school after I graduated, I failed miserably. I just felt so blocked and so stilted, and so so TIRED. And I just didn’t have the energy and love for it any more. And that frightens me, I’m scared I’ll never get back my groove again. I miss it so bad. But I also, don’t want to go back to the overthinking/depressed/mentally unstable way I was going about creating my characters. Lol, not to be dramatic, but is there hope for someone like me? Is this common?

I’m a writer I have a problem with writing so many characters and creating to much plot without characters performing in the plot. So I’ll write more characters and plot lol. I need to be these characters and listen to what the characters are saying more, so it can ground me into the scene and obstacles.
