Thank you for this. Family member had recorded conversation with doctor about our mother so the rest of us could hear first hand what was said. I found your video and shared with a friend currently in the hospital so she could do the same especially since doctor claimed they did not say something two days before when she (the patient) believed they did. Next thing doctor said was they were going to have to bring in a witness for what they say to the patient! So it told her she should record it so she has proof and can refer to if needed and also be able to share with her husband who might not be present when doc makes rounds. I think your video can help her!

Thanks, very well explained. Great to have the 'skip silence' option. Sadly, it's gone as soon as you share the audio file, then it plays with the silences. If you know how to overcome this, let us know.

I have used Voice Memo hundreds of times. Last night I tried to record a concert from the tv. It was over 2 hours long and NONE of the audio recorded. I just tested it with my voice and it works fine. What happened and what can I do to prevent it in the future.

This is a good video showing how to use the voice recorder. I am looking for how to record audio playing on the phone and this video keeps popping up, voice memo cant record anything playing on the iphone speaker

That is right. Apple have implemented a copyright blocking system that prevents it from recording audio from Apple Music, KZfaq etc. You can try alternate streaming platforms and quite often it will allow you to record the audio if it is not party of the DRM (Digital Rights Management) system

Great, glad you found it helpful. Another option for recording audio books include using garage band which has the ability to layer audio and add effects. This app can be downloaded for free from the app store. You can also look at some online platforms including podcastle which has great features for mastering audio and adding transition effects and sounds...

I am trying to be able to record phone calls that record me! I believe it's only fair. Although I had my feelings hurt when I found out my own sister was collecting emails & all my messages to try to catch me lying! She listened to my mom saying horrible things about me and now has a selective memory when it comes to facts. I soon found out that my messages to a "friend" were saved & used against me! So all I ask is if they're recording me then I should be able to record them & if you are being recorded that you have the choice & it comes up on your iPhone! It's only fair.

When you export the file out it will be in the m4a format. Most podcast platforms should allow this file format. if not you may have to convert to MP3. I have a video tutorial on how to do that which you can see here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jtCAaat6ua2xj6c.html

Most often it stops recording as soon as something is playing on screen. For example if you open up the youtube app and start playing a video the audio recorder stops automatically. Apple has included this as a copyright protection feature.

Is there a way to just record audio from a short video? My husband has an android and when I send him a less than two minute video I screen recorded it says it too long.

There should not be any limits to the recording. Perhaps you are running low on storage. Go in to the settings app and check that you have at least 1-2GB free storage. If not perhaps delete any unwanted apps or media to free up space.

Does not work. As soon as I hit the red record button, the app I want to record stops playing, and vice versa: when I restart the app playing the audio, voice memo record pauses.

What happens when your screen enters lock mode, during a recording?

For me the screen goes into a sleep mode but not lock mode so when you tap on the screen to wake, the recording is still going.

The app itself can record for an unlimited amount of time. The only limit is the capacity of your iPhone's internal storage. Your phone will notify you if your storage space is low

Sure, the microphone on most recent model iPhones is great quality so as long as you get it close enough it should be quite capable of ASMR type audio recording. May not be as good as a studio condenser microphone but give it a go.

Yes sure that is an option if you want a video file. Using the Voice memos app gives you and audio only file.

I find it hard to record. Why isn't there a simpler way? Or since tech is all new to me & I am constantly recorded by cc companies & ins. Companies but all the lies I was told by the ins. , they have proof but I don't! It's too long to go into but read over all of the hoopla in legalese before you buy the ins.! They keep telling me that I have a 500.00 deductible with my car & I know I asked for $250 deductible, they said prove it! I thought it was on my former agents paperwork but I couldn't find it & I got this ins. In 2014 but I'd 4gotten when I used it & didn't think it could be held against me but they did use it! A tree in a thunderstorm fell on my windshield & the top of my hood, so I put out 250 for my deductible because my then private landlord was a liar & told me they can't hold it against you! But if she did her rental homeowners ins. would go up & so she'd have to raise my rent by at least $50/mo.! They did, I got a portion of an inheritance & bought my own home outright but the homeowner's ins. has me at 250/ded! Now why in the Lord's Name would I ask for 250/ded & not on my car?!!! Everyone I have spoken with has said get a good lawyer & sue the agency! Your word used to be your bond but now your word to anyone has to be proven! So I want to be able to record all of the excuses & lies I was told too! They even have voice recognition now but us little guys can't even record these gigantic ins. com. This will be deleted probably by some big outfit so take it for what it's worth now! I have been suffering from all of this misery and it's driving me crazy! Lies lies and more lies & there is so much more but no recorded conversations by me! Oh my nerves are shot! I should've become a recluse, in the mountains growing my own food & sewing my own clothes etc!

This guy made the video as long as he could to get more advertising revenue. It's ridiculously long and tedious. He sounds like he's reading from a script. He could have given out the same (simple!) instructions in less than a third of the time.

This is not my intention at all. I make the videos with the good intention of sharing my knowledge and experience using the tech. I include as much step by step information so that even a beginner can understand. I find that most people like this level of detail.
