Would help to know the ratio of glue to water for diluting because when my fabric dried, it buckled up. Also, you will have to clamp down the edges with small paper binders while you wait for the glue to dry, otherwise the fabric won't stay.

Thank you for this video. I like that it only has music and speeds through some of the processes. I was wondering why you didn’t cut it out with the pattern attached (allowing for the extra on top and bottom and one side) instead of adding the step of tracing it into the fabric.

Great video. Have been trying to figure out how to do this but wasn't sure. One small critique thought. A large sheet of paper, pencil and pins should be part of the materials needed. Its says paper is needed but its rolled up and is hard to see. What kind of glue should also be here.

So simple! And no need to buy a kit! I’ve got lots of old lampshades that just need new pattern or colour so this is fab. Just one question. If old shade is patterned what could you do to ensure it doesn’t show through to new shade fabric? Paint it first?
@parafernaliablog1768
@parafernaliablog1768 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Claire, yes it´s perfect to refresh old lampshades. In that case you could try to remove the old patterned fabric before add the new one. Normally there is a fabric on top a strong paper or plastic. Check it first.
@parafernaliablog1768
@parafernaliablog1768 3 жыл бұрын
And also, before trying anything permanent you could just place over the new fabric, turn on the light and check if it show throught.

Nice video! I have a lampshade already backed with brown fabric which is probably too dark to cover with another layer. I would like to try removing this fabric but I have a feeling it would just make a mess and damage the plastic layer too much to be worth it. Have you ever tried this?
@parafernaliablog1768
@parafernaliablog1768 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. I've never tried it, but if there is a plastic layer under maybe you can try to wet the fabric little by little and see if that help to remove it.

How much fabric would you recommend purchasing for a shade this size?
@janehollander1934
@janehollander1934 10 ай бұрын
I would say a meter... because most fabric shops probably won't sell you less than a meter. Unless you shop at a quilt fabric store. You could always make a 'paper pattern' of your own lampshade (the way she showed in this instruction video), and take that with you, as a guide, when you go fabric shopping✌🏻😊.

@parafernaliablog1768

I never use an exact amount. the idea is to have a texture that is good. One that is a bit liquid so you can apply easily but at the same time it's not too runny. I normally mix half glue half water.

I have a pagoda style lampshade that I would like to put fabric in, but not sure this technique would work.
@parafernaliablog1768
@parafernaliablog1768 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Robin. It´s a bit more complicate but should work as well. The important thing is create a good template in paper before cut the fabric. For do that you should place a side on the paper, draw the silhouette, turn the other side (be sure that the edge are in the same position), draw the new side and repeat until you do the 4 sides. My suggestion is that you make the template in a soft paper or even a old fabric, so you can test it on the lampshade cut the good fabric. I hope that help.

Why did you use *diluted* glue on the whole of the shade?
@parafernaliablog1768
@parafernaliablog1768 2 жыл бұрын
That way you have a lighter layer and it's easier to avoid bubbles and wrinkles. But it's more than enough to keep it fix. You just use the glue undiluted in the parts that you need and extra power.
