Follow the steps below to recover deleted messages on Messenger:
1. Open a browser on your iPhone, Android phone, Chromebook, Macbook, or Windows PC.
2. Navigate to facebook.com and login to your account.
3. Select the Facebook menu button in the top right and select Settings.
4. Once in the Facebook settings, select Download profile information.
5. Ensure you select Messages in the profile information to download.
6. Select the date range, format of HTML, and then change the Media quality to medium or low.
7. Select Request a download.

When I follow of this process, it only allows me the downloaded messages which are already available in messenger. I bought something off of marketplace last Friday and in advertently deleted the persons info and can't seem to retrieve the information I require. I need to see the messages that were deleted...

Thanks for your video. I followed instructions to recover the message thread of a conversation I accidentally deleted. The file only contained the current conversation that I had with that person since I deleted the past messages. It hasn't found the deleted messages

Note: if you message yourself and delete the conversation then it is deleted forever and will not be downloaded if you install the file

I recorded and sent a message to myself.. It showed error and would not give me any options except to pin and other option I can't recall. I tried to pin it to see if by chance it would "save" it somehow and the message diappeared altogether! 18 minutes of key notes my boss gave me! I cannot find how to recover this anywhere!
