I just used a fine tipped sharpie on the tile and followed that line. It does make a wet mess, and once I started looking like I wet myself I started wearing a towel and apron while cutting. The blade it came with worked great until we wore it out. It was better than the replacement one we bought. I tried looking for just their blade, but failed. Not really for larger tiles unless you stack stuff on either side to support the tiles. Anyway, would definitley buy again.

I've had my Kitchenaid for 5 years and finally making dough for the first time. My mixer bowl stuck after the kneading, and after 15 minutes of no luck, I Googled and got this wonderful video! I cant believe this is your only video. It has really helped me even in 2021. I had to put hot water in it for about 5 mins, oiled, then straddled before it came out. It is not kitchen aid though. GOD bless you

Thank you! I thought I was the only one who had this problem! Last night my glass bowl got stuck and nothing we did worked. We laughed so hard when watching your video this morning that you straddled it too! In the end oil and a mallet worked for me. I’m going to try rubbing a light coat of oil on the base and see if that helps in the future. I love my Kitchenaid, I’ve had it for over 20 years, and it’s only in the last 2 years or so it has started to get stuck ... I’m so surprised to hear this is such a common issue, though relieved to know that it wasn’t my fault for the bowls getting stuck so often!

I found your womderful video trying to find a video on ‘how to put you bowl on the stand mixer.’ I ended up figuring out the ‘put it on the floor method’ on my own-the giant schnauzer loooovves this method 😂. This helped me tremendously, I hadn't taken mine out of the box for several months and used one of those neck wraps you heat in the microwave for neck pain, wrapped it around the base (took 2 times) and presto! Thanks, glad I found this video!

Thank you for this info. It’s positively maddening that we have to go through this. I had one for about 30 years, never a problem. About two years ago it finally died but I loved it so much I bought another and every single time I use it I have to deal with a stuck bowl. I suspect they are using a different quality steel that is softer, making it easier for those threads to grip and not release. #ThanksKitchenaid

OMG, thank you! My classic has been jammed after a failed load of bread for weeks! I had tried everything except for the floor maneuver without luck. My 16 year old weight lifter was able to get it with the floor strategy. THANKS!! I was losing hope. 😂

I had this problem for the first time today, after making pizza dough. Loved your video and especially your comments that a rubber mallet and towel should be included with every mixer as accessories. That's the one that worked for me... We used to kid in the computer industry that 'it's a feature, not a bug', which seems to apply here, too. Happy mixing. :-)

I have a Classic K45SS mixer that I purchased in the early eighties. Thankfully the bowl has only become stuck a few times. I have always been able to "strong arm" it to remove it until today. Thank you so much for your video. After various attempts, I put it on the floor, pressed down on the bowl, gave it a turn and it released. Alleluia!

Kneading bread dough caused my bowl to become stuck - hard. This helped to get it out. I also added some very hot water into the bowl. Sprayed the base liberally with oil, and wrapped the hot towel around the base. After several tugs, it finally released. Thanks for the tips.

My husband bought me a new bowl for my mixer WITH a handle because of my struggles with the original no handle bowl. Made a batch of chocolate cookies in the new bowl, feeling perfectly content knowing I would be able to remove the bowl since HE ISN’T HOME right now. Not so! Your video came to the rescue. The hot compresses and the oil did the trick. I very nearly threw the whole contraption away, bemoaning the loss of my old Hamilton Beach mixer. The Kitchen Aid lives to see another day.

I have one of the newer artisans but I also have a connective tissue disorder. I was home alone and couldn't get the bowl to release. Thank God for the floor method I would haven't gotten it off until someone came home!

Thank you marejerbear5458 for this helpful video and to the people who posted comments below. I have become increasingly frustrated with this problem. The bowl seemed to always eventually release but it would take so much effort! You shouldn't have to fight with your cooking equipment. The wet rag method did nothing. I tried the put it on the floor idea and I didn't seem to need to actually straddle it but just being on top of it with my whole body gave me more strength. It popped free with great force. I checked to see if all my body parts were intact and they seemed to be. I'm widowed so I don't have a husband coming home to take care of the problem for me or I would definitely go that route. A below comment gives me an idea, the one about the cheap flanges of the bowl. This is my second kitchen aid mixer (and the first one had at least a 20 year life span). I still have my bowl from the first kitchen aid mixer and upon visual inspection of the flanges of the bowl, it looks like they are more defined and perhaps of better quality than the newer bowls. I will try that bowl next time. I will also try the idea of putting a little oil on the thread of the mixer base plate before inserting the bowl. Thank you for assuring me that there isn't something wrong with me that removing the bowl is so difficult.

Omg...... just found your video......THANK YOU SO MUCH . I’ve had my kitchenaid for years and never had a problem till now. During COVID -19 I’ve been baking bread. It must be the high speed continued beating....But now the bowl sticks. There is no way I can budge it. I thought it was because I am getting “OLDER” and loosing strength. 🤣😂🤣

I'm so aggravated!!! LOL This has happened a few times to me in the 8+ years I've had mine. Usually my husband can get it off. But, he's not here, it's stuck, and nothing has worked. My kids were looking at me like I was crazy for straddling the thing. Even my 16 year old couldn't get it off. I even snapped the bottom of the handle. ARGH!!!! Thanks for this video though. Their help page instructions list these same steps, minus the straddling, "if you've made bread or thick cookie dough and the bowl is stuck because it's overtightened." I legit thought my $300+ mixer was broken. This was wonderful and you were so funny. (We did the hot compress, vegetable spray and mallet. Needed all three steps.)

as a recent hip replacement patient the straddle is out of the question...I'm hoping for the rubber mallet solution....I make meringue cookies every Christmas and I don't think the warm towel is a good idea for me! This is such an issue you'd think the Kitchenmaid company would have a better solution!!!!! But I did love your video...you have a great sense of humor ! If I had known this was going to happen I would have not purchased this. I still think KitchenAid is a great product but I’ll use it for cookies and light jobs. You are precious! You ought to do a whole bunch of videos for us housewives. After struggling to get the bowl off I asked my husband for his rubber mallet, but I hate the idea of hitting the bowl and damaging it. Your hot compresses, oil and “riding” the mixer has got to be safer for the life of the bowl :) And mine is a Hamilton Beach so it just shows you all the mixers make removing their bowls difficult.

Two of my daughters were going to bake with this mixer I bought for them but could not get the bowl off. I went straight to option 3 and WALLAH off it came with a firm twist to the right. First time I wasn't as on top of it as you had demonstrated, so after I re-watched your video, I guess I got the technique down okay. OMG. I was so frustrated--I thought I'd have to buy another machine. I've had this Kitchenaid Classic for years and never had the problem, though today was the first time I'd used the dough attachment, as some others had also experienced. You are hilarious.

Oh my god, I'm having this problem right. This is a brand new machine so I'm shocked to find out the design flaw. The oil didn't work so I tried the third method. But instead of lifting it and put it on the floor I basically turned the machine around while it's still on the counter top and straddled and pulled from behind, which finally released the bowl! I mean, I though this machine was supposed to make my life easier?! Thank you sooooo much for the video. Lifesaver!

I did my own version of the "straddle". I placed my arm over the top of the mixer so that my armpit was resting on it. I was able to exert enough pressure that the bowl immediately released. Thank you!

I almost decided to throw this brand new thing in the garbage! I was making cheesecake and then realized I couldn’t get the bowl off! First time using it, but I didn’t think of taking the bowl off when I initially cleaned it. Thanks for this :) I Just purchased my KitchenAid 2 days ago. I had read some bad reviews on the web before-hand about the brand. Even at the in-house shop demo they had trouble with a bowl (a glass one which wouldn't fit on the stand securely). Buying 1 of these seems to be a REAL GAMBLE. They are so so expensive. I cannot believe the design is so exceedingly poor. And you made this video in 2007. It's now 2014 & they have had 7 years to redesign. I cannot believe it. My KitchenAid mixer cost me $800.00 & it's not trustworthy/reliable. Anyway the hot towel thing has not worked, so Ill go straddle & maybe throttle the thing! Jenny
