G'day Josh. I had the same set up for years myself. Loaded heaps of 22-250 rounds and now the grandson's have got all my gear and they're loading up to 308 with it but different dies of course. It never let me down once. I couldn't agree more with you . Be bloody careful and you'll make better bullets. On ya mate.

I find it can be very therapeutic to just do one step and have a break, and then do the next step. Lee has a very good handbook with good instructions and explanations as well as the charge tables.

Good vid, with sensible reloading information. I would say to young people thinking of reloading, is to try and pickup used equipment. It’s usually available at swap meets etc. You can keep cost down, and avoid spending a lot to get started. The equipment you used is everything needed. I would add a set of vernier calibers to measure case lengths.

Good Vid Mate. Walked easily through the entire process. There’s nothing wrong with LEE gear; I use it all the time without issue. Very important to keep interruptions and distractions away, and you have to keep mobile phones away from those digital scales; they play havoc with them. Most of the 55 grain projectiles (and there are heaps of them) will shoot fine in the 223’s, and the loads don’t vary that much at all. Now you can make some noise…

Gidday mate, I watch all your shows & love them. I recently saved up & bought the Howa 223 mini action fat barrel stainless. When watching this reloading clip I thought I heard you say that you can put a 222 round through it? Did I hear right? What about projectile wobble, any? I'm an old guy & have introduced my 3 sons to shooting as well. My main weapon before this is a 22 magnum Mossberg long barrel. Anyway, the other mention I wanted to say was when having trouble with traps I always put a generous pinch of flour on the plate and a eyedrop of aniseed essence. Because that smell can't be found anywhere it brings them in from afar. If you try that then it will pay to have some perimeter traps with no scent . I first started trapping in the 60's, and swap between aniseed and vanilla, but just a small drop. It also makes the flour go sticky, cheer from Paul.
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 Жыл бұрын
Hey mate. Firstly I have to clarify that no I did not say you can fire a 222 round through a 223. And strongly recommend Not trying it 😂. But thanks for the support mate. Glad you are enjoying the videos. Congratulations on your purchase of the Howa! Should be a good little rifle. 👌 Thanks for the tip on trapping. Although I wouldn’t put any on the pan but rather in front of the trap or off to the side a bit so they would have to walk over the trap to get to it. But I’ll definitely give some a try sometime. Haven’t done any trapping for a while.

Nothing like knocking out 1000 rounds on a single stage press. I'd load 1000 9mm one Saturday, then shoot them all off the next Saturday. Don't think I ever loaded more than 500 .223 over a weekend. Full length sizing gets tiresome after a while. 😊
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 11 ай бұрын
It’s not too bad if they are lubed up properly. I used to only neck size them but now that I’m running the same ammo in two different rifles I need to full length size in case of slight chamber differences. I found that some that had been fired in one and then neck sized and put in the other, they wouldn’t fit and I couldn’t get the bolt closed.

Hi, that was brilliant to watch, thank you. I've worked in Engineering Design all my life have designed small Jigs & Fixtures and Press-tools similar to those that you were using. Also Quality Control on the Workshop Floor (yawn) The overall weight of re-loaded Shells must be minutely close to one another and you mentioned about concentrating on what you are doing, due to the repetition involved. As you are going thru a batch, do you make random checks every so often, to make sure that re-loads are consistent in weight?

i use same brass, osa, accedently used hornady brass and it changed accuracy quite a bit. 55g sierra game kings, same as supa roo's i'm told, and 25.5gn of 2206H, cci primers. absolute beautiful accuracy of 1/4" groups. need to reload myself, only 30 rounds left. i only neck size with my good old australian press, forget the name. with your changing of components, do you load test every time? i haven't the time, so stick with exact stuff.
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 Жыл бұрын
Nice. I do test if i change anything but I'm the same. I try and keep them all the same if possible. But in this video i was just using up some old projectiles my boss had in the cupboard. They don't group the best but still work ok. Haha once I get down to about 200 rounds left i usually start thinking of reloading again.

lhf, like your videos how do you know how far to seat the bullets into the case? would like to give reloading a try.
@intothenight1993
@intothenight1993 Жыл бұрын
For the 223 the maximum overall length is 57.4mm. the ones I just did are seated to 56.01mm but as long as they are the maximum length or less and not compressing the powder you should be fine. But if you have a look the picture of the finished bullet I had in the video, there is a groove that i just seat them to that groove if that makes sense. But you can put it in to the maximum length and then try it in your rifle chamber. If you take it out after fully closing the bolt check to see if there are any marks from the rifling. If so then seat it a bit deeper. But setting it to your maximum length should be fine. 👍

Yes most definitely to go and buy new ammo that is good quality, your looking at least $1+per shot but to reload if you can buy powder and projectiles in bulk I can reload them for about $0.41 per shot. If you are to buy brass as well it will cost a bit more for the first time but then if you keep your brass as you shoot then it's a lot cheaper from then on.

Not just cost effective but you can build some incredibly accurate ammo to suit your rifle if that’s your thing. If you’re saving 50/60c a shot and shoot a fair bit, it wouldn’t take long to see a return on the reloading gear investment
