How to Remove a Mercedes-Benz Front Bumper | E-Class (w211)

This is the complete guide on how to remove the Mercedes-Benz E-Class (w211) front bumper.
You'll need the following things:
Hydraulic Trolley Jack
Jack Stands
10mm Drive Socket with Wrench (US units 3/8")
8mm Drive Socket with Wrench (US units 5/16")
Hook Tool
#25 Torx Screwdriver
The car being worked on is a 2006 E350 Sport with the AMG E55 style front bumper.

There is actually an adapter that snaps into the square area of the jack pad of the Mercedes. This adapter prevents damage to the plastic jack pads when using floor jacks. I use these every-time I need to jack my E400 and you can easily use any jack stands with these adaptors. They come in hard plastic or steel. I prefer the still ones which I got from reverselogic.

Not bad. This is actually one of the better videos on how to do this! Kudos. But a couple of corrections on procedure. Those plastic push pin retainers mentioned at 7:18 are best removed by prying the center push pin out first with two very small opposed screwdrivers! Do not pry the entire push pin out without pulling the center pin first. You stress the hole way too much if you don't do this. Do not use a hook to yank it out. It will come out quite easily if you do this and doesn't require much force. It's also a good idea to buy a couple of spares push pin retainers before you start, as they can easily break when being removed. They are cheap. Second, do not remove the temperature sensor or remove the fog lamp bulbs. You don't want to get dirt in the fog lamps or risk touching the fog lamp bulbs and the temp sensor is fairly fragile. Rather, remove the electrical connector from the fog lamp bulb and temperature sensor. You will have to remove the side marker bulbs with the wiring harness, as there is no connector for those.

The air baffle on these cars is there for a reason & MB don't leave it off purposely. I might have an update model, so that should tell you something.

Might just be a shitty jack; the jack I use at work is a piece of junk and it’s hard to twist even with no pressure sometimes, so with pressure on it you gotta really turn it; so you inevitably drop the car too fast

You have one major problem in this video & that's because this car, unlike all Merc. W211's, is missing the large air baffle that runs across the front end, directly behind the bar. This baffle stops you from getting at the lower 10mm. bolts that are underneath the bar. The only way to undo these two bolts is either remove the front bar grill, carefully or drill a 1" hole in the forward part of the air baffle directly under each 10mm. bolt. You need a 1" hole saw because the washer underneath the bolt is a 1"flat washer, mainly when you want to install the bar again. You can then remove each bolt with a 1/4" extension bar connected to your 10mm. socket. Been there, done that!

The black rivets don’t get pulled out like you did it in your horrible video. You take a flat head screwdriver and pull the middle part out first which releases the outward pressure, then you take the rivet out. Expert!!!

Those plastic retainers, you need to pull the spreader center pin out to easily install and remove. No real force necessary.

You need to have an alignment done. That driver side tire is wearing on the inside edge more than the rest of the tire.

Great video mate.... one tip, those black push screws are a 2 piece thing... the middle is a pin,who you need to pry out before removal.. thann you can take them out easy... you did not do that😉

I have the same headlights you have. What harness or adapter can I use. I put these on my 04 mercedes e500 so my harness from my car isn't matching the harness from the headlights

Never ever release jack stand quickly like this.... You need to release it slowly and check all jack stands, you never know if support rusted or what. Btw never put jack stands on mercedes like this, use couple small plywood inserts inside jack mount... Its plastic and will slip for sure.

Richard Cuico there’s a small front metal clip on the 55’s and 63 bumpers; to hold the bumper together with the body, where the two join together at the side of the headlights. I didn’t see this on yours but I have them and can’t figure how to get the clip back in since there’s no arm space. Any ideas??

sorry for the late response but were you able to find the solution yet? At 13:55 in the video I show a metal clip holding the bumper and the front fender together. Is that what you're referring too or is it something else

Seems like this job would’ve been a lot easier if you would have taken the front wheels off and the fender wells. I don’t know but I’m stupid like you said.

don't recall calling anyone stupid but I'm sorry if I came across that way. At the time I didn't feel like the need to take off the tires as I've done it so many times with them on. But yes, it would of been easier with them off

My fog light bulb size was 9006. Unless you have the same car you should check just to be safe. If you're going to get a HID fog lights I'd suggest 5000k for pure white or 6000k if you want a slightly blue tint. You'll also need an anti-flicker kit with the HIDs so that they dont throw you errors. I don't have any specific HIDs I can recommend but here's the link to the anti-flicker I use: amzn.to/2xYfSKc

Were you converting the front to a 63 AMG style?? If so...where did you locate the parts & did it come as a package deal with all necessary parts???

There’s a fourm on mbworld where someone did a 2004 e500 conversion to a e63 amg look. The car looks totally badass now. Try googling w211 e63 amg conversion.

In that fourm they go over everything but on ebay you can buy a 2006 to a e63 amg front bumper. You just need the new style headlights, updated front grille and the front bumper meshes I think. Check the fourms to be sure

you can go with an ecu upgrade but other than that you'll have to add some major work like adding a turbo or something. Wouldnt recommend it though. Better to save up and get a e55 or e63 amg instead.

what kind of fog light bulbs u used those are a halogen style right they don't give error?

Mine were Halogen so ya you're right they don't give any error. If you were to go with HIDs or LEDs though for your fog lights or any lights for that matter, willl probably throw you an error. You can get a error canceller from amazon for around $10 a pair. Look up Kensun HID Kit Computer Warning Canceller & Anti Flicker, this is the one I used. Also the bulb size for your fogs are 9006.
