Awesome video. The extension cord didn’t work for me. It gave me inspiration. I used duct tape. Wrapped it around the glass. Worked like a charm. Left a little hanging off so I could pull it.

I needed to replace the bulbs in my ceiling fan. I didn't know how to get it off. Tried using other methods from other videos but they didn't work. Tried with your method and it worked great. It's a good thing I had the cord on because I had to use the other hand to hold the stem of the ceiling fan. When I took it off the cord held it so it didn't fall to the floor and smash. Had a globe on the fixture for 10 years. Bulbs finally burned out. Couldn't move the globe without also twisting the entire fixture. After I saw your video, I used a 1/4 inch robber hose and wrapped the globe twice. Twisted the ends, braced the fixture with one hand, and pulled with my other hand like I was removing an oil filter. It came loose easily. Thanks for your video.

I KZfaqd this on a random whim because I was annoyed with the light & desperately wanted to change it to a daylight lightbulb. Two tries with the extension card and it glided right of the inner track. Thank you!!!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! My much needed win for the day. I have been struggling on how to get that stuck dome off for years. My cord wasn't grippy enough, or maybe I didn't have the strength, but I cut a long piece of duct tape instead and rolled it on itself lengthwise and voila, the dome came off using your wrap-around method. I think I will try putting a bit of plumber silicone grease around the rim when putting the dome back on as that has helped with keeping my water hose from getting stuck to the exterior faucets. Next will be to replace the entire fixture for something more sensible.

Same as everyone else. I considered a ratchet strap and my next plan was the hammer and a trip to home depot to replace it... I let all 3 light bulbs die before I finally delt with it because it was SO stuck... NOTE: the chord trick worked but mine came off HARD AND FAST... I barely caught it with my arm as it came down. It was SO JAMMED. SO 100% put a hand on it because if it smashes to the floor after getting it off this way you'll wish you just smashed it with a hammer (it's THAT heavy glass) lol😂

I purchased a small ceiling fan/light combo (because I don't have a ceiling fan or crossbreeze in my apt. and do not want to be forced to use my AC unit so soon...it is April right now.) The item I purchased screws into a lightbulb socket. Unfortunately, the glass dome covering my current ceiling lightbulb fixture is stuck. (In desperation, I even tried spraying some WD-40 in the groove...to no avail. I am 'older' now and losing patience...along with physical strength, even though I hate to admit to the latter.)

What a bunch of great ideas... I will try that. But in our bathrooms the lens is flush ... maybe put in from the back, with plastic vent-like outer ring for the exhaust fan. But all in all you made a great video.
