Just did this on a t510 i got for free. Took about 5 trys of turning it on while shorting the chip but it eventually got me into the bios and worked like a charm. Thanks for taking the time to show this! Ive now got a good spare computer for my daughters to do their school work on!

Thank you so much, been hunting for a W530 in good condition forever and finally got one, but with a supervisor password. Super easy to do, thanks for being detailed. Needed it to be unlocked to flash 1vyrain. You should take a look at that, it's super useful.

I am trying to buy a W520 and the seller indicates that it has some kind of lock (supervisor in bios?) and cannot boot from hard drive - anyway there is not one - but boots only from usb. Read some information about the eeprom chip and wanted to ask what are the odds in my case. The price is low enough to buy it for parts, excluding the mb, but i want to make use of the laptop.

Be nice if you can just remove the bottom plastic cover without so much disassembly. I have a W510 but kinda reluctant to go through this process. Could one just remove the screws that attach bottom plastic cover?

How did it power up without the keyboard with the power button on it ?. My keyboard ribbon is torn. And I cant get it to power up. Even with an external keyboard. The only way is to setup the bios to power on with a/c connect.

I did this on an older IBM x22 and it corrupted the eeprom. Either that or I damaged the connections causing it to give me a 0175 crc1 error. Thankfully I have a IBM TP x21 mb on the way to replace the current TP x22 mb.

I have not found a solution yet for an Yoga 11e. I do not think their is a way to on those models. Do you know what year it is from?

Make sure not to short the pins too early or too late. You have to be precise. Keep trying, eventually it will go through. The T530 can be unlocked as well, so keep trying, and Good luck!

Hi man, I had same problem the way that worked on my case was: First, I didn´t remove the HD, then power the lap top on, count 3 seconds and short the pins and almost at the same time with the external keyboard press F1 to acces to the BIOS and it was it! Good look, please tell me if it worked!
