Thanks for the video, looking at doing a conversion from electric to manual on my transfer case. I saw a write up about it and it said you would have to drop the transmission but I don't think its necessary. You have the only video about removing a transfer case from a 90's model f150/bronco that i've seen so far. Keep it up. Also how are those lights still working for you? Looking at doing the same setup on my bronco.

Hey Mike, I'd be very surprised if you had to drop the transmission. If you do, make sure you have some way to support it. Harbor Freights transmission jack is great for something like that. The lights are working out great and are a huge improvement! Thanks for watching.

I need help on my 89 f150 how do u get the transmission out with transfer case all in one but only the is stopping me is the cross beam how remove one of side one that is attached the cross beam what easy way

how did you get the linkage for the shifter on it off? every time i try my crow bar jumps off and i slam my fist into the frame of the t case

I cant get the transfer case to separate from the adapter plate. Smacking it with mallets and pulling/rocking it and it isn't budging. All 6 bolts are out.

Hi there like your videos... I am looking into swapping transfercase in to a 1995 single drive f150 as well as the front suspension... Everithing is coming from 1984 bronco some say its a direct bolton ...any advice

I just removed my t case while watching your video. Thanks for the help. However, when I removed the t case from the adapter, a lot of red tranny fluid ran out of the adapter. Is this common or normal?

Always remove the t-case FILL plug first, not the drain plug, in case

Doing this same job today, with the same Harbor Freight jack and lousy blue painter's tape for the bearing caps. lol Wanted to see if that bar that connected to the control lever was held on by anything other than friction before I started whacking on it. I took up the carpet and removed the doghouse as I'm replacing a leaking rear main seal, so coming in from the top made getting those upper bolts off a breeze. (Now if I can just get that $%#@&# over-tightened fill plug out!) Appreciate you posting this.

In your video the the hole where the electric shift motor would go is open, where do you buy a plug for it? I have the same issue right now.

The hole you pointed out is sealed on mine. As far as I know, on the manual shift models like mine, the spot for the electric motor isn't drilled through, so no plug is needed. Electric shift models have additional machining done in the factory to allow for the motor to access the shifting mechanism through the case. Double check your case to make sure that it actually has a hole or not, if so you may have a casing that was originally for an electric shift. if so, there has to a solution to plug it appropriately. Try doing a search on fullsizebronco.com

How do I get those U bolts off front drive shaft? I have the nuts off but then I'm stuck on what to do next?

Soak them with penetrating oil then tap around the area with a hammer, just don't damage the threads.

I'm aware of how old this comment is, but this is for anyone with a similar issue. I used an air hammer and carefully hammered the u-bolt out. Bought new ones from my local auto parts store.

I specially came to watch this vid to see if you remove the Adapter plate "WITH" the transfer case or leave it on the trans.. and i could NOT tell from you vid where you DC'd it from (Trans side or Transfer side ?) . Guess i'll have watch someone else's vid.. thanks anyways...

I'll check in with you next time I make a video. At 4:22 I began to state that you are removing it from the adapter plate. Starting at about 5:30 I say that the transfer case is separated from the adapter plate.

Anyone that isn't smart enough to engage the emergency brake and/or blocking the wheels shouldn't be doing the job in the first place! Safety is one thing BUT so is common sense.
