You left out a critical final step: Torque the bolts to proper spec. This a especially critical for carbon bars. Most people overtighten these bolts which can weaken the stem/bar interface and create an unsafe condition.

now do you actually use grease or anti seize compound? since I assume they are steel bolts into an aluminum stem. new bars are on the list of wants on my bike.
