I was a little scared at first cause dude was telling his life story, but then after that he comes out with the best pulley removal and install video I have watched... Thank you for this very very helpful video.
@spelunkerd Жыл бұрын
I've watched dozens of videos of this procedure through the years, and this one is the best by far. One thing worth remembering is how far on the pulley is in the car before you removed it. Most are flush with the end of the shaft, but be sure you remember since you need to replicate what was there before you removed it. Even a mm of difference can lead to belt squeal and problems down the road.
@JeepArmyUSA Жыл бұрын
Thank you and i feel the same about noting the pulley clearances. On the flip side, now that one knows how to remove and install the pulley, it’s never too late to dial it in and line the belt up exactly where it needs to be before there’s a problem.

Great to the point pulley removal video, I have that same power steering pump on my '75 Dodge D100; loved the sarcastic no water/power comment Lol. I lived in Salado during that time and just got back from my last deployment in Feb and then this crazy winter storm hit knocking out the central TX power (that ONCOR was not apparently ready for). I remember huddling and sleeping by the fire place with the family because that was our only heat source. Kudos to you and your family for still doing volunteer work in the middle of that misery helping with the hospital blanket drive:-)

Thank you so much! My pully on a 2001 Ford 1/2 ton is made of plastic and it shattered while my wife was driving, and it scared the pee-waddle out of her, but she made it home somehow. That is something I have never heard of, actually, so I am so very glad I found this video. I am hoping I can find a replacement that is not made of plastic. The tips at the beginning are a wise addition, by the way. You don't always get the "don't do like I did" with these DIY videos.

5:02 Everything you need to know about the pulling action. Took me a minute to understand 💡 🤔 Thanks for video. That little half pieced tool is the magic that allows the little presser set to pull like a spider puller.

I am about to do my first pump replacement and no video was as clear cut as this. Thank you for taking the time to make the DIY mechanics life easier! I do have one pet peeve, I personally wouldn't lubricate between the shaft and pulley out of caution for even the slightest slippage but that's just my OCD kicking in i'm sure. Not even sure the lube would stay with the snug fitting rather just scrape off.
@JeepArmyUSA10 ай бұрын
Thanks for checking out the vid and in my case, the shaft & pulley were so snug that the residual lube left on the shaft never had a chance at slipping the pulley. That is a really tight press fit.

Hey man I bought this same kit Amazon and I'll tell ya I had the most horrible time trying to figure it out. In my opinion the directions aren't that clear so your video helped me out tons. My biggest mistake was an obvious one which was not using anti seize lubricant to lube up the screws and the pully shift however i scored with this video wish it was at the top of the list this one is the best I could find.

Tremendously helpful. Might put this video to use in a day or two. Was on my way home to fix a DIFFERENT issue with my car when this pulley just broke off. I’m less than a week out from buying my sister’s car off of her. Nowhere near the level of your misfortune, which I’m sincerely sorry to hear. But yeah, I’m not even sure that this car is worth fixing.

Bought my puller/installer at HF. They might be good enough for extremely light duty stuff and I oiled the pee out of the pushing bolt and the threads still stripped. So today after running out of other things that needed done i rented the tool from O'Reilly's. HUGE DIFFERENCE! had the pulley on in very little time. Wasted 2 hours with the cheaper tool.
@bigworm64422 жыл бұрын
Don’t waste your time with other videos. JEEPARMY is the first video I’ve found that details the pulley on the pump. This was very helpful in determining if I needed to remove the center of the shaft before pulling the pulley. Seems like a small detail, but it’s not. Hint; there’s no fitting to remove prior to the pulley.

Brill video mate. I’m about to take off . When putting the pulley back on how will I know if pulley on will it just be tight . If that make sense
@JeepArmyUSA3 ай бұрын
If you’re asking how you’ll know if it’s on tight after pressing it back on. I’d say you’ll know from the act of pressing it back on. So basically, you’ll feel the amount of pressure and force it takes to get it back on. It shouldn’t go on super easily.

It might depend on the style of pump and accessibility, but generally speaking it is possible and should be easier when the pump is mounted since it won't want to move around while you are working on it.

I just put a new power steering pump and pulley on. I have to say only buy powerbuilt puller remover its so much bugger and easier than others. My belt is now squeeling though. I dont have a laser. How else can you tell? Should I just try to push the pulley on more? I stopped when it got super hard to push it on anymore. How in the world would someone know when its on enough? I had no clue I'd need to deal with how far on it needs to go. Just figured push it on till it dont go no more and youre done. Apparently not though.
