While renovating my main floor bathroom, I needed to remove drywall for the plumbing work to be completed. I decided to carefully remove it in one piece so I could reuse it later instead of buying new drywall. Check out my trick for getting pieces of drywall off without breaking them and with less mess!

Good tips! I never thought much about trying to reuse the drywall. I usually just tear into it looking ahead to installing the new. Your method creates far less mess even if it takes a little longer.

Wonder Woman. I remember the plaster and lath. We had it in our last house. It dates the wall behind differently than the bathroom. Ours was a b* to get off because the plaster also had mesh wire in it to help it all hold together.

All you experienced people are late, super late in the game ! I developed this technique 15 yrs back without ANY background or experience whatsoever. I used simple common sense and a fridge magnet. My entire house in Boston was remodeled this way. Removed all the old sheets in their entirety, installed insulation, and put those sheets back. I preferred to strip the corner beading and re-install. This avoids any cracks in the walls and sheets are always more sturdy in their full 4x8 format. Plus i didn't hv to plaster the entire walls :)

Lath and plaster walls? How old is your house? And what's the story with the framing on the wall to your right? You have the midas touch when it comes to unscrewing those screws. I would have rounded them off and ended up breaking the drywall away and using ViseGrips. As always, great and helpful video.

My home is 130 years old. The framing on the right wall was like that for the shower that used to be plumbed there.

Put plastic over the doorway and go go go. take you more time and money to save sheetrock, unless it is a small patch and even then.

We glue and screw in Aus so this wouldn't work as well, as the sheet would break at the glue.
