How to remove FX6 filter hose bracket clips.

Today I will demonstrate how simple and easy. It can be to remove a FX5 or FX6 canister filter bracket clip from a fish tank. I needed to share this information since I found no video so far on a Google search. Remember use this video as a guide only. I take no responsibility for any loss or damages. Thank you! I’m swapping my 210 with a new one because the silicone is peeling away on one side. They are incredibly hard even getting on (feels like the glsss will break), so I feel like it’s even harder to remove.

Im sure you're not the only one. But remember, the glass is under a lot of pressure filled with water. The glass is strong. We're not striking the glass with a hard blow.

I’d never use a hammer. I use a small piece of wood molding that tapers from 3/8” to 5/8”. Slide it between the glass and clip and she slides right off!

I think its a travesty that fluvalt made these to be basically non removable by your average human being. I have 3 fluvalt fx6s and 2 went on my 300 gal tank backwards because I could not get them over the lip (little did I know it was a wise decision). I then put one on my 75 gal sort of like... ohh hey I can always just move it... Yeah.... nothing worked. The other day I was overhauling my 75 for plant grow out tank and tried a pry bar, breaker bar... could not get it off without feeling like I was going to break something. did not try the hammer. Thank you.

@@roundedrob1483 No sir. Not yet. I am cycling the 75 gallon and I just added more plants that came via mail. Given that I do the daily water changes of 90% to drain all the ammonia from ada amazonia v2 and ada power sand, tank is drained and filled (with water from my 300 gal) daily. I just need to muster up courage between water changes to just do it. For time being it was slightly pried apart from glass to slide 3d background under it so once I use the hammer i will be pressing up against the background rather than glass to further cusion. Background is from my 300 where it was used for years and years. I recently did a complete overhaul and rescape of my massive filtration system and tank. KZfaq is processing my 6hr video for progress build. Its a giant tree trunk background from universal rocks. After years in the tank its still looking as new as it was 5-6 years ago. Inside the trunk I drilled some holes for intake and a hole on top was drilled years ago for my return pipe on 300 so I slid intake from fx6 into it thinking it was a silly idea. Boy was I wrong. Tank has a steady current all throughout. It will be used only for plants (ok maybe eventually something tiny like neon tetras) as I am trying to learn how to keep plants the proper way. My 300 gal has 4 refugeums with thriving plants but I just shoved them into there 9 years ago and had a whole forest worth that grew. My 75 gallon is more of an experiment. CO2 is next to be connected. Once I get a solid hang of how to not kill the plants my next goal is to start weeding out my chichlids. Bastards are breeding faster than I can blink. so far I increased my already massive filtration x 4 to get me by. I figure I probably have another 6-8 months before I really have to get around to moving them. Have probably 100 fish in my 300 and while its good for aggression control with all the fish in that tank 6 years old... they are getting up there in size and I will have to deal with that too.
