CLR is great if vinegar isn't working
@protojager Жыл бұрын
Be careful with CLR and other chemicals though, they can soak into and warp or eat away at the rubber gaskets holding the faucet together causing leaks.

Watching the first part of the video, I said "All you need is plain old vinegar". Glad to see that was the answer given. I removed a shower head from a house that used lime scaly well water, no water softening system. It was BAD. I let it soak in vinegar about a day and a half. It came out almost completely clean. Just a little soapy water and a sponge wiped off the remainder without even scrubbing. A soft toothbrush to get in the crevices of the spouts.
@wesleyhester4284 Жыл бұрын
It also works well to remove each component, soak, and scrub with an old toothbrush.

Scrubbing it with baking soda, first helps a lot and then using the vinegar as a deep soak to really clean out everything else is what I do.
@holderheck15 күн бұрын
As a cleaner in Air Bnb's we can't use vinegar for safety reasons, it interacts with certain illicit substances to make deadly gas. So the method to do this is a needle, barkeepers friend and a euro scrubby, takes about 4 minutes and it returns it to how it looks out of the box.

I recommend concentrated citric acid. It is cheaper and stronger. Plus it is oderles and tasteless . Plus it brakes the crust off in smaller sand like pieces so it rinses off more easily and doesn’t clog the small holes in the faucet. Hope i helped. -A chemist.

If you don't have time 20% phosphoric acid works well, its usually sold on big supermarkets and hardware stores as limescale remover, but be careful it may eat rubber parts

You are a funny guy. ❤ from India
@terrapinflyer273 Жыл бұрын
Only thing about vinegar is that it can erode rubber gaskets. Better to remove the faucet head (if possible) and the gasket between them (there may be one inside the aerator too, which can usually be disassembled) and soak the parts in a cup. You can still safely use the bag trick on the exposed faucet that way.

Just a note for next time, your specific sink head comes completely off pretty easy. As you pop it out to use the shower button, that chrome ring holding the swivel in place is the only thing holding it on. That's typically where it leaks from too
