In this video, Matt McCraw explains how to remove stain from logs using a chemical stain remover that has been formulated to be safe for the user, surface, and environment. After applying the finish remover and giving it time to react with and soften the stain, the resulting gel can be removed with a pressure washer. After the stain has been removed, it is important to remove any furring (i.e. fuzzing) of the wood surface to obtain a smooth surface for the new stain. Chemical stain removers are recommended for historic log structures to protect the historic
logs.
