Some body shops would tell the customer that the mirror needs repainted and thats why people need to know this. It would be hundreds of dollars to repaint this little mirror. And it's not like the body shop doesn't know about compound and buff, they just lie for the money

Hello Pan, another great video (sorry for Andy, but you fixed it!). Someone keyed my trunk lid on my black sedan but it didn't go to bare metal, just light enough to see the scratch luckily. I noticed in one video, you always started with the yellow pad, but here you started with the blue. I have Chemical Guys yellow, orange, white and black pads and Mequiar's cutting pads. Which pad would be best for this project? I plan on compound and polishing. Thank you as always!

I LOVE my Rupes Nano Ibrid (Long Neck). It’s so helpful in many situations. In addition to the Rupes Yellow and Blue foam pads, I also recommend getting some Rupes Green and White. The Green is super helpful when you need a little extra cut above the Yellow, but still not as aggressive as the Blue. And the White is a very nice fine finish, although the yellows may be good enough for many as a finishing pad.

There are less expensive alternatives (see links in the description). I just use what I have in my detailing arsenal. You could even attempt to polish by hand using microfiber towels. It takes more elbow grease and you won't achieve the same levels of paint correction, but at least it's better than nothing. There aren't miracles in detailing unfortunately. To get the job done, you do needs products, tools and equipment. It comes with the territory.

LOL no Craig, those aren't swirl marks, that's just Gyeon Wax that was curing on the surface. I guess you haven't seen my videos this past month? In the video, I mention that we were doing a few things to his car including applying protection on the paint. Merci beaucoup
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын

In this scenario, you could replace the mirror cover. They come painted for the mazdas. No body shop needed. As a master mechanic I see alot of cars ruined by body shops, avoid them as much as possible unless you truly have one you can trust.

@@PanTheOrganizer How I found your channel? We just bought a new Toyota RAV/4 Hybrid with the cool metallic white paint, and the wife said I better not ever drive it thru the car wash - so I Googled "car wash" - you came up - and I was hooked! The scratches I have are under the door handles on my 2014 Tacoma - all those little scratches from reaching in. The problem is that the area is recessed and I don't think any tool would reach in under the handle. With out the polisher, what would you use? Just an ordinary micro-fiber cloth?

Oh yes the fingernail scratches under door handles. You can apply a light polish to a microfiber towel and polish by hand. That usually works. And yes there's now a flexible extention shaft/tool you can attach to a mini polisher to get behind there and polish. Polisher: amzn.to/43lmAH5 Flexible extension shaft to reach in behind the door handles: bit.ly/3XQSr15

Hi Michael! Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on KZfaq as we surpassed 880,000 subscribers and we have over 112 million views! I have been detailing for 26 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers. You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing. No need to do anything before the wrap gets done. For the clear coated paint (the parts that won't be wrapped), if you clay, you should polish afterwards as claybars are abrasives and we usually follow up with a polish stage. There are a few things to do before you apply the ceramic coating. Watch my popular ceramic coating application tutorial: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qdeBjLmb3azVe2Q.html

Pan, I always love seeing paint corrections with amazing results. You did a great job here. However I do have a question. What is the level of detailing proficiency needed to correct paint with light scratching all around and very little to no deep scratches and clear coat damage? As I’ve stated, I just use Sio2 spray and rinse sealants, but after applying a real ceramic coating to my glass, I really do want to put a real coating on my paint. Any insight is appreciated!

Hi Anthony! Unfortunately, for glass, there's a limit to what glass polishing can do. It can help to remove finer swirls and scratches, like marks from wiper friction, but if there is missing glass material (like pitting from stone chips), there isn't anything that can be done other than replacing the entire windshield. Si tu parles du point entre le plastique peint et le plastique noir, non, car là la rayure est rendue à l'apprêt (primer) et il ne reste plus de peinture. What about for light barely visible scratches on new cars.
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
A new car is never new until it's properly detailed. - at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example. - vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc - vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements - at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches - at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat. If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well. I explain all of this in this popular video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h82frNV0kpunfZc.html So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car from two of my customers: Tesla Model Y: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ndWYntZp3baZfo0.html Porsche 911 Carrera: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aMmbnMynx6zVo2g.html Audi Q7: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qp14dqWEu9TNqoE.html
